30 gen 4, yes?

Ok, I'm coming from a Cowboy Action background. Since Wisconsin got concealed carry last year, I started out with a Glock 17 gen 3. loved it, no safety. Bought a Glock 26 gen 4 and liked it a lot better since I have small hands. With the way the country is going, I'm thinking bigger caliber makes sense plus, I'd like a 45. I've got a Glock 30 gen 4 ordered. Does my thinking make sense to you who are much better at this Glock stuff than me? I like the 45 cap out of a 1911, but I won't carry one.

alot of people like to carry the g30 & with any of the smaller glocks any of the bigger mags will fit for range use.
the g30 is a fine piece just like any of the glock family, you wont be unhappy with your purchase.

The G30 is a wonderfully versatile 45ACP pistol for CCW and home defense. There are some options to convert the pistol to 10mm and 460 Rowland that yield an amazing, light sidearm for woods protection with some serious power. If you have small hands, don't know how your hand will fit the G30 grip size.
Other then that its about the best Glock.

I had a 30 in the past but I have small hands also and it proved to be to big for me so I had to flip it. I've got a 36 now and it fits my hand like a glove, very comfortable to shoot and carry.

I understand the gen 4 to be the same reduced dimension,
front strap to back strap. I also experience the Gen 4
stippling to be SUPERIOR for grasping the gun.

Just picked up my second G30. But I like the gen 3 version. Not a fan of the new grip (texture or removable backstraps). Completely personal preference though.

Great choice with the gen 4. The 30 is one if my favorites and the newest gen is IMO the best of the bunch. Can't speak for other gen 4's but it works real well for the 30.

I LIKE the new grip texture a lot. My g17 gen 3 fits me ok, but the g26 gen 4 is great, so I'm assuming the g30 gen 4 will work. My lgs gets $575 for gen 4s.

Have a Gen 4 Model 30 on order at a major dealer for three months now. Still waiting.

I had heard Glock would release the Gen 4 model 30 in large quantity in January but now it is February and there are non to be found. Anyone have any accurate info on when Glock will provide them to the marketplace?

sugarcreek...have you felt the G30SF and Gen4 G30 side by side???...I wonder if though they are the same size without any added grip piece on the Gen4 if the Gen4 still feels even better as was the case (for me) with the G31SF and G21 Gen4...

OP, Absolutely, with the potential of all mags being limited to 10rds and knowing that the G30 is an excellent pistol, packing the most bang for your buck makes sense.

As GRT45 said, G30s are very versatile and can serve in many roles.

My G30 has TruGlo TFOs, a Streamlight TLR-2 and a 13 round G21 mag and lives in my bedside table.

But! before buying another G30, I would definitely get my hands on a new G30S and compare before I decided.

I went with a G30 Gen4 yesterday...no G30S to compare but I did look at the G36 so I could compare slides...

I was really drawn to the G36 slide being lighter so initially I wanted the G30S but the Gen4 felt nice...the finger grooves better spaced for my fingers than my G23 framed pistol and some of the reading I had done here and elsewhere seemed to point to a bit more recoil with the lighter slide and a touch less accuracy...this was learned from people who own, have owned or have shot both...minor points perhaps but only minor pluses if not true so...

I bought this one then...my new G30 Gen4 with Trijicon (my preference) night sights...

My experience is that the Gen 4 21 and 30 are the same size as the Gen 3 30sf and 21sf. I did not measure them, purely a tactile evaluation.

My LGS has a Gen 4 G 21, Hmmmmmmmm

i have actually held a gen4 21 & a gen3 21sf, when looking at my grip it looks like the 21sf is abit smaller for the fact of how close my fingers were to the palm of my hand.
it was'nt a huge diff but you could clearly tell 1 was smaller than the other.
the salesman said there were the same size so i tried them & you could clearly see the diff along with the feel, my grip prefers the gen4 pieces but everybody has a diff taste.
