100,000 trouble free rounds today..
One of my very steady customers came into today, as he was buying more ammo of course, and told me that he hit the big 100K level on Tuesday
He asked if Glock gives any award of letter or anything for it haha, seriously though. I told him I would ask, nobody in the shop had any clue.
Backstory
He bought a Gen 1 G17 back in 2002. Now get this, he got it USED. It was a LEO trade in, on the slide it says Shelby County with a star next to it. I think there is a Shelby county in NC Now how many rds went thru before he got it who knows.
He is a long time CPA,and is also an Actuary so the man knows math and is extremely detailed orientated to say the least. He has kept every ammo receipt he ever got. I tracked his acct back to 2006 thru my store company wide data base and counted up roughly 70K rds. He always gets the 250 rd yellow bulk boxes of UMC 115 Gr.
He generally gets 1-2K at a time, more if it is on sale. He will go thru that amt every month. He has the WM receipts from 2002-2006 to acct for the other 30K rounds. So it is well documented, if he needs to prove it to Glock HQ.
The best part is the gun has been FLAWLESS !!!!! 100 % FLAWLESS. Un F'en real. He has swapped out 4 RSA and been thru 4 barrels. He has done some trigger work and some mag release stuff as preventive maint, other than that just routine cleaning, never did a detail strip btw.
The gun looks great as well, esp for a Gen 1 w/ a100K miles on her. He plans on going for 200K now. I can get the SN possibly if Glock HQ needs it.

Thats freaking awesome, they should do something for him for sure. Stories like this is why I shoot / carry my glock more than other brands in the safe.
Never was a fan of Glock until I shot my buddy's G26 better than my XDM. Thanks for sharing, subscribed!

For sure, I am not a Glock guy per se'. I have had them all and have held onto my G33. For anything, whatever it is, to do it's job 100,000K times w/o a hiccup is just amazing to me. I have to hand it to UMC ammo as well.
I hope a GSSF member or something chimes in w/ some info.

Maybe I'm cynical, but I doubt Glock would kick out a congrats letter to him since his ammo purchases could have been shot through any 9mm pistol. I'm sure there's more than one training school out there that racks up receipts like that every year, but all those rounds go through quite a few pistols. Buzzkill over.

Bow down. That's amazing. The most I've ever put through a single gun has been a little under 30,000 rounds, but that was through a .22. And it's no longer functional. (Walther P22)
100,000 centerfire rounds through a handgun is ridiculous. And expensive! Dude has my respect.

I find the lack of new mags interesting.
I find the lack of spring changes interesting.
I would love to see pictures and/or have Glock to a full analysis of the wear.

Uhh he went thru 4 RSA's , I didn't think to ask about the mags. While I was looking at his acct, I did notice he has bought 12 of the Glock brand 17 rounders, and he did mention he does not use the G18 mags as he uses only what he does as part of his CCW set up. Smart guy.

Did he wear out 4 barrels? I recently read, here, that some of the police trade in Glocks have 25 to 30K fired through them and they work fine.

I don't really consider it 100K rounds if he is on his 4th barrel. That is like saying my car went 300K miles but it's on it's 5th engine and 3rd transmission. Just sayin'.

+1.
Sounds like an anal retentive CPA changing the barrel every 25k. Chuck Taylor has circa. 500,000 rds. through his original barrel and there were several L.A., CA rental Glocks at a public range that had over ONE MILLION rds. through them.
100K?

Ask him how bad he wishes he has all that ammo during this shortage.

That is an awesome story. Nothing like the durability of a Glock.

"He always gets the 250 rd yellow bulk boxes of UMC 115 Gr."
That stuff barely counts. It's the weakest 9mm I have ever shot. It won't even reliably function in my HiPower or CZ75.
Congrats, though! But my CZ75 has over 40,000rds and I have not needed to change the barrel yet.

4 barrels?!?!?!?!?! wtf
barrel life on a 9mm is around 200k rds according to my barrel life calc - granted I use it for rifles but it's still a .335 bore with only about 5gr of powder which is NOTHING for a .335 bore.

Incidentally, Can you determine; does his G17 have the TB 920403 upgrade installed?

I have put about 5k+ through my gen one 22. I bought it used back in 99. I have had a trigger return spring break and replaced and wore out an ejector. I have not had to replace the barrel though as I have only ever run a wire brush down it once the entire time.
I had returned home from Iraq for convalescence leave for a few days and went to the indoor range and put about 500 rounds through it that day. It was a good day.

Neat story, but I doubt Glock will do anything for him. Their product worked as advertised.

I do not understand the 4 barrel thing as a 9mm Glock barrel should be good for more than 100,000 rounds. I have fired over 42,000 flawless rounds with a Gen 4 G17 and replaced springs every 10,000 rounds.

My best guess is if he carries it for personal protection he figures its worth spending the money to ensure his firearm is in absolute top-notch condition at all times. I know some car guys who replace their synthetic oil every three thousand miles even though its rates for 10k-15k
