Figured Id share a project Im working on based off G17's

Howdy all, I usually post my gunsmithing videos up in the groups Im a member of from my youtube channel be it news or firearm related topics. I thought I would share some of my below the radar project with everyone today.
With all that said, Im a professional smith that has been spending the last few years crafting what I would like to see in competition guns from an visual and functionality perspective. We are in the process of launching our own competition or full custom branded pistol line being created using readily available and affordable striker fired pistols such as Glocks, XD's, Ruger SR's and Smith and Wesson M&P's.
I am in the process of building prototype Tactical Advantage Competition Custom serial number 001 and 002 right now. Both are being built off of donor Glock 17's. The first step is mirror polishing the slides in preparation for engraving of the Tactical Advantage Logo which Ill post a sample of below and also a few pics of the completed polish of 002's slide which I did today after taking receipt of the customers Brand New desert Tan Gen 4 17. I absolutely know that polished glocks may turn some people off but I did think it was worthwhile to show everyone what is possible with a little time and effort. If everyone likes these posts Ill periodically update them with the different mods. There will not be a part on these guns which is not customized or messaged. Hope you guys like it, sometimes its nice to stop thinking about all the bad in the world and look at shiny things
Appreciate the chance to share and I hope its fun to check out for some of you. Again, I absolutely know that some or most people wont like the mirror polishing but it was a request and I thought it was pretty cool that the Glocks can be polished up this well.

Nice Finish!

Love the Two Toned polished flats with the black serrations and black top.

Didn't take mine that far, only to 800grit.

The bummer for me is that it likes to stain when concealed carried.

Sure would like to know if you have found a way to prevent the polished flats from staining!

Looking forward to seeing what you are cooking up.

Thanks Everyone. Slides have made it back from engraving and look great. I will be doing some aesthetic machining on the slides as well as some functional slide lightening tomorrow as these guns will be comp'd with LWD or KKM barrels.
Heres a little update on the slides.

Heres a few rough in pics of the frame. These are NOT the finished product. Just a few shots of the starting of the stippling which I do in a multi-stage to get the texture I like as well as the rough in of finger groove removal and trigger undercuts. Ill through up some finished ones once I clean it all up and cerakote. The stippling will be 100% uniform when its done.

Nice! I wonder how corrosion (rust) resistant it is?

That's a good question.
To test that, I handled and rinsed the gun in chlorinated water when the polishing was done to see if it would start corroding and if so how aggressive would it be. I also fingerprinted it up really well and let it sit for a week unlubricated. No corrosion whatsoever.
My opinion is the surface pores are polished so small its hard for chlorides to make it into the substrate and start the corrosion process. Also, Tenifer by nature of the process effects the metal even if the surface is worn off. When these are ordered by customers I will offer a clear cerakote as an option which will make it about as corrosion resistant as you can get. But I feel pretty comfortable with saying it seems about as resistant to surface corrosion as stainless if it were to be reasonably cared for

Very, very nice work. The only thing I would change is the old style font of the letters on the grip. The logo on the slide is very modern looking and I think a more modern text on the grips would better compliment each other. Strictly my opinion, but great job on the work.

I absolutely agree, I did the original grip years ago just to test stippling with stencils. It is dated but I cant bring myself to change it....lol

The thing right under the cross hairs looks sorta like the LW logo that's been cleaned up, to not look like a cartoon.

I like your choice of the old style font, too. That's just personal opinion and I would think any style could be ordered. Good luck.
