Oh yeah....
I remember hearing about this. I heard Bill Gates is waiting until Barrak Obama is recognized for his Lifetime GlockTalk Contributor award - presented to him by Wayne LaPierre and Chuck Norris themselves.

Why pay for Microsoft Office when Open Office is free?

This could be interesting. Even though we use Citrix for most programs, I know a big reason we use Windows is because of Office...so while it probably won't make us convert if it is available (even though my boss is a Linux guy), I can see it possibly causing other companies to switch to Linux if this became a reality.

I think Open Office may have just released it's newest version.
I tried it a couple years ago, but it just didn't work well enough for my needs (interchangeability within a professional environment that uses Office).

Why do you all think they may release a version for Linux which may siphon off sales of Windows?
The only possible explanation is that MS is getting ready to release their own version of Linux.

The other possibility is if they thought Office sales would be higher than loss of OS sales. Especially since Office is going to a subscription model.

They need to update Office for Mac first.
I hear Office for iOS should be coming soon.
