IL city council may not wait for the state on CCW

Rein asks City's attorney to draw up Concealed Carry ordinance

(Second story)

The alderman requested the legal department to draft an ordinance and for the city police to figure out how to implement it. The council approved these requests.

Alderman Rein said he'll drop it if the state gets something passed, but until then, he's proceeding to push the city to "be in compliance with the Second Amendment."

What's it matter? He knows the state (and as a result, his city) is not in compliance w/ a federal court ruling. It would be irresponsible (ie, lawsuits) to not begin making attempts to bring the city in line, if the state refuses.
