Modern American Heroes
Do you know who Rick Rescorla was? If yes, good on you. If no, don't worry, you are not alone.
I realized yesterday when I was reading something about American war heroes, that although I can name a couple of people who distinguished themselves in Vietnam, lots who were heroes on WWII, and even some from WWI, I don't know anything about anyone who was a hero in any of America's recent wars.
That's sad. I know we are not a warlike nation. For the most part, we all want peace and prosperity. We rise up when we have to, to fight for our freedom and our national security, and when we do so, it is with a vengeance that has never before been seen in history.
In the past, guys like Alvin York, Audie Murphy, Chesty Puller, John Basilone, and many others, were heroes known to pretty much all America.
There have been heroes since then. But our government, and the liberal media do not want us to know about them.
Rick Rescorla, by the way, saved the lives of 2,700 people in the World Trade Center on 9/11. He was VP of security there for the largest tenant in the towers, and he died that day trying to save even more lives.
Before that he served with distinction in Vietnam under Hal Moore in the battles made famous in the movie We Were Soldiers. The amazing thing is that before that, he served in the British military. He was not even born here, but came here and joined our Army.
If you know about other modern American heroes, post a little bit about them here.
