Went looking for an Enfield and found a......

A S&W model 10-5 in what appears to be near mint condition. She looked at me longingly from the gun case and I had to take it home. Finish is perfect, barely any visible beginnings of a cylinder ring. I'm guessing the original owner bought it, shot it once, and into the closet it went. Got the original box and paperwork with it. Lock up is tight, everything looks perfect.

Very nice. I prefer that incarnation over the heavy barrel for a .38. But that one is a collector not a carrier.

A very nice example indeed. One of the best, no frills working revolvers S&W ever made. Congrats!

That is nice! Great find. Looks like it was bought and just stored.

Looks gorgeous, but.....

what about the Enfield?

I have two, in very USED condition and full of cosmoline, that I bought about five years ago.

One is a Savage and the other is a Long Branch.

Congrats on the 10-5, I have one exactly like it, including the skinny barrel.
Great shooter/ HD gun.

Still on the hunt for an Ishapore Enfield in 7.62 nato. I have a bunch of old Indian 7.62 milsurp that is of a questionable nature. About 1 in 5 or 10 are loaded kinda crooked and that concerns me enough to warrant not shooting it through my nicer guns. Plus it just looks like crap ammo, and considering I paid dirt for it and it came in cotton bandoliers instead of packaging I want to be cautious. I figure shooting it in an Ishapore Enfield which only runs me a $200-$300 is a better idea than my other guns. Also wouldn't mind having an Enfield in general.

My 15-2 is my favorite shooter and my carry/HD piece, however the model 10 is awfully attractive. Gonna definately give her a run for her money.

i love that rifle*(though not feeding it its ammo thats not all too cheap anymore) but I missed out on the boat to get one when they were dirt cheap years back..I always would save up for one...then something would pop up and that money I was saving went to that(was in college at the time) I wish I could go back now id just throw it on the CC and have done with it . Nice gun!

I'm such a sucker for those things. The worst part is I wouldn't be able to bring myself to shoot one that came to me like that.

Thanks. Of the two the Savage is my favorite because it's marked "US PROPERTY"...

I think once I clean them up they will look even better.

Very nice.

Mas Ayoob once wrote an article about the skinny barrel Model 10. He heaped praise on it. The light barrel allows very quick presentations from the holster, almost as quick as a 2 inch J-frame.

I would like to see them come out with a 3 inch skinny barrel .38 Special K-frame. In blue, of course.

Very nice

I bought a 10-5 last year still unfired in the box. They are beautiful revolvers.

Buy 'em when you see 'em. I was online about a week ago and found a NIB S&W 40 made in 1973. By the time I took the time to look at the photos, someone had hit the buy button, and it was gone.

I found one of those locally last month as well. They don't pop up too often.

My neighbors could probably hear me yelling profanities. I've wanted a 40 for awhile, not too interested in the 40-1, and this one was NOS.

Old Smiths are cool.
