Sig Detail Strip
I've seen the recommended spring replacement schedule for Sig pistols which appeared over on the Sig Forum a couple of years ago. The recommendation is to replace the decocker spring, trigger reset spring and slide lock spring after 10,000 rounds. Other springs such as the extractor spring and firing pin springs are replaced after 20,000 rounds.
My question has to do with detail stripping your Sigs. Have you ever detailed stripped your Sig and replaced all the springs? How often do you detail strip your pistols for inspection/cleaning/lubrication?

What! I guess no one detail strips their Sig pistols. You must just send them back to Sig for cleaning and spring replacement......

I've never done it either. Been watching you tubes and trying to learn. Just not brave enough to try yet. There are also some downloadable PDF armorers manual out there too.

I sent mine to Sig. Which reminds me, I need to call and check the status of my P226.

I have detailed strip my sigs but I bought them used and who knows how many rounds have been down the that pipe it was just cheap insurance since the pistol was apart and it's not difficult. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

I detail stripped a used Sig P250SC 9mm. I only did this because it was used, and I wanted to inspect and replace parts as necessary. IMO, detail stripping a pistol depends on three factors:
1. Your level of mechanical inclination.
2. Your level of common sense.
3. Your ability to interpret an exploded view diagram.
Your second question on frequency...
I only detail strip a pistol when it's absolutely necessary. "Necessary" to me means when the round count on a pistol reaches the point where springs need to be replaced or when dirt/debris causes malfunctions. For example if the firing pin channel gets crudded up causing light primer strikes...if the trigger feels gritty even after flushing it out...

I have P220's and I have Detailed and changed out all springs a couple of times it's not difficult at all.
If you go to gray guns Bruce gray has published a great sig vid.
Really explains and you can see just how simple it is.
