This is just shameful. The waiter is not at fault for what the restaurant does and the system does. I think this guy was just being cheap. He forgets to mention that his institution does not have to pay taxes and steals from the rest of us by using the public roads, the clean air and water, and other things our society provides.

Yes it may be sad that another person could have been angrily pushing a religious point in someone else's face, maybe missing a good opportunity to self reflect and feel irony.
Also following Mosaic law, tithing is actually more than 10% and possibly means something richer...

While its weird/strange what was done.
I don't like "manditory tipping" Raise the dang price if you are going to charge me more then menu said. I get discounts at many local places. Normally I give that (back) in tips. IF they can give me a glass of water, remember which table ordered what, didn't lose my order.
I was in one place down in FL (once) Half hr wait to get in. another table came in, ordered, got served before our order was taken. "Oh I'm sorry I forgot you" We "forgot" a tip.
I don't mind "suggested tips" I normally am in 15% area. Some places I only leave a buck a head at table. (buffets)

If service is good, 20% is never out of the question. Take care of me when I'm on a (rare) night out, and I'll hook you up.

According to a report on Google, the waitress that posted the pic of the receipt was fired. Because the cheap preacher that wrote the silly note whined and cried that she was "embarrassed" because it was made public.
Does that not really P.O. any one else?

This stinks. Waitresses have one of the worst jobs there is. An idiot using God's name in vain writes crap like this and the waitress gets fired?

I can tell you from personal experience that many pastors and church folks are some of the biggest pains and the worst tippers that I have ever had the misfortune of being with at times.

Here's more info. IHOP (which changed their corporate name to DineEquity after they bought Applebee's) owns Applebee's. So IHOP is also getting a call.

Absolutely. For anyone who didn't see my thread about it, IHOP owns Applebee's. I called both and told them to forget about any more of my business.

In the story I read the Pastor claims her CC was still charged the 18% and that she also left $6 (nearly 18%) on the table.
1) Does she not have the right to tip what she wants? Maybe the service sucked?
2) There may be more to this story... Before I pee down my leg, I think I'll wait and see.

Edited out because dumb.
The waitress was in the wrong for putting a picture of the customers name and signature on the internet. The waitress could have done the sensible thing and blacked out the name and signature and kept her job.

No, it doesn't. When somebody takes public action against the customer for ONLY leaving an 18% tip, firing is the least of what they deserve.
Did most of Glock Talk miss the part where he paid an 18% tip and the "0" was on the line for "additional tip" above the original 18%?
