They brought her up in the gun control hearings today.
They also made a point to say that Chicago's gun violence issues are due to people getting guns in other states and that without that, their gun control laws would be working.

Let's see now if I have this correct. A lot of gang shootings in Chicago, so they want to take away guns from the honest citizens so they can't protect themselves against the gang shootings. Does that about say it all?

Well, if their gun laws are working, that means the police are not doing their jobs and should be kicked to the curb. Right?

The murder rate has been cut in half over the last 20 years. Many forget, Chicago had a murder count close to a 900+ per year from the 70's to the early 90's. So as bad as 500 sounds, it is nearly 1/2 of what it was in recent history with a higher population.

Sounds like a good argument for building a border fence around Chicago, to keep the guns out. "If it saves only one child's life!"
(Obama should regularly go back and do more work in Chicago. The community's organization seems to be unraveling a bit.)

Chicago has some relativity safe neighborhoods on the north side and scattered throughout the city that have crime rates at or below the national average.

And 500 is still higher than the (firearm) murder rate in entire state of Arizona...............with twice the population.

Oh...I agree there is still a major problem. Just pointing out what so many forget, in 1992 Chicago had a murder rate of 34 per 100000 persons which is unheard of outside of a 3rd world country. While 500 is bad, they have made some progress.

Condolences to the family and shame on the administrations in illinois, and in Chicago, where for years they have ignored, and/or failed to act on the numerous acts of violence by the drug dealers, gangs, and thugs, while instead, going against the good, law abiding citizens who happen to own weapons.

If they take all the gang bangers and other BGs off the street, and allow law abiding citizens to have handguns, that will fix it.
The Chicago machine, will never allow that. it would put the machine, out of business, if they did that.

Who cares about the entire state, unless maybe it's Rhode Island. If I'm living in Phoenix, the murder rate of Arizona as a whole is just trivia. And if I was worried about being murdered, I'd be safer in New York, NY.

Cary, NC - 0.00

In none of those listed cities, except Phoenix, can damn near each citizen legally own and open carry a handgun.
So, you're stats are meaningless.
If Arizona's borders were more secure, our homicide rate would be much lower.
