Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

I'll just leave this right here...

A fundamentally contrarion and dissonant belief system if I ever encountered one. Who do I know that shares similar attributes, hmmm...

I can't resist it. I'll hate myself later, but here goes.

What are you thinking?

I'm thinking that some things are better left implied rather than said. Seems like the usual suspects are on board...

You guys are funny. A few other devout atheists are also uncomfortable with others pointing out their assumptions and lash out at others with different opinions, and that just proves its common beyond this forum.

You should all know by know, I'm not bothered by your disapproval. I'm comfortable with the truth that we don't know, some believe, many believe devoutly on both sides of the coin.

I find it funny that GH is using a Theists argument here. (if the title of the page can be believed over the URL) While always accusing me of the same.

So then you identify with the type of agnostics mentioned in the article? What of the point of that article, you did get the point of the article didn't you?

No, I skimmed it. The point i got was that was atheists and agnostics are not the same, there are distinctions.

Is there something in the blog post and responses you would like me to pay particular attention to and comment on? It appears you are beating around the bush from some of your responses to others in the thread.

ETA: if it's the criteria at the beginning, an objective observer would point out several important differences between my positions and those described. Can you tell which ones don't apply?

Why don't you try reading instead, it described you.

Not even close except for the agnostic part.

1) a tendency to attack the “arrogance” of evangelical atheists,
Manners? Yes. There is some arrogance, but a lot of is have that.
(2) a near-complete, but unexpressed, acceptance of atheism,
By definition, not personally. I accept that everyone has a right to choose what to believe, and that all of us do make that choice.
(3) the elevation of “arrogance” to the worst of all possible moral failings,
Pretty sure abuse of a child is at the top of my list. As pointed out earlier, just about anyone posting here, including me, has at least a healthy dose of arrogance from time to time.

(4) expressions of respect and sympathy for religious people,
I take a 1st amendment approach to this, and respect people's right to choose what to believe. Atheist, agnostic or theist. All are valid choices.

(5) a barely-veiled contempt for the intelligence of religious people,
I've pointed to many intelligent people with religious beliefs other than atheism. Einstein for example. I recently argued against someone claiming that in order to be anything other than an atheist, people weren't thinking.

(6) a refusal to engage in actual philosophical debate over theology,
What have we been doing then. You have your perspective, I have mine, other people have theirs, and we discuss them, a lot.

(7) the adoption of weak theological arguments that no religion actually employs, and
That's more of a subjective judgement instead of an objectively measured conclusion.

(8) a rejection of agnostic principles as applied to any subject matter other than theology.
Have I not been pointing out constantly how little we know as a race for quite some time?? The universe, our own planet, and even our own bodies have many mysteries yet to be discovered.
I'm still waiting for the anti-aging pill and anti-gravity boots. Seen any online?

I can't tell if this is a group effort or a smattering of projection, misrepresentation, or not paying attention.

What do you think?

Yep I'm sure no one else thought about Doc when they read that. Or maybe you are just uncomfortable with others pointing out...

Please, don't flatter yourself. I've become quite used to people around here misrepresenting my positions, it's nothing new.

I've pointed out the inconsistencies, take them or leave them.

I'm still comfortable with what I believe, even if what I believe makes others uncomfortable with their beliefs.
