Which is MORE racist...an ad suggesting "Black people are happy" or presuming that all Jamaicans are black?

Presuming it is the commercial with the guy in the elevator then office I do not know whether it is racist but I did think it was humorous and memorable.

It is as funny as hell. There is not a REAL Jamaican (I know at least four Jamaicans) that would think that was racist in any way, shape or form.
Yesterday I forwarded it to three of them, all of them thought it was hilarious. The fourth responded saying: "I am your housekeeper/cabana girl...I am not sure it is appropriate mon, for you to be friending me on FB and posting this stuff on my wall".

I'd love to talk like a Jamaican. Very cool accent and puts me in a better mood. I've seen travel shows that had white Jamaicans speak with a distinct accent similar to that only not has heavy.
People need to take a nap, jeez this country is getting grouchy.

It's not anywhere near as racist as the one I see around here for some community college or online college.
It's got a squeaky clean-cut white guy with a huge smile saying, "If SHE can do it, ANYONE can!!"

I thought the rule used to be, "it's racist to say you can recognize a person's race by the way they talk." Did that one change, or is Barbara Lippert just racist?

How are they getting "all blacks are happy" from that? The only real live Jamaican I know personally isn't black. Or maybe he is. I can't tell. Maybe if he grew out the buzz cut? I adore his accent. It's beautiful. Anyway, I thought the beginning was silly and the ending was funny. But I keep a rooster in my bathtub, too, so I may be the wrong sort of person to ask.

I just watched the commercial. All I can say is; Really mon? Why are people butthurt over that? People are funny, I guess.

lol , no Jamaican would find it offensive. we have gone to Jamaica 5 times over the years , i asked one who i became friends with and who i stay in touch with why the folks so oppressed living in crap huts were a happy go lucky bunch ??
we were eating at a sammich shack on the beach , and sat back toked on a hogs leg and said in a serious tone " ITS THE GANJA MAN ROFL . true story .
speaking of i need to plan a trip back to see my friend , he is getting up in age .
80% of them are happy go lucky , the others not so much

So I just watched the ad - too funny. And some of these media wh**res who claim to speak for "oppressed people" really need to get a life of their own. I mean really...there are some really important problems in this world...and this ain't one of them!
Everybody that I showed it to, or told about it, was so damned proud that Jamaica (aka Jamrock) was once again being recognized for our contribution to popular culture - sheesh - we need some more folks like VW (I know, eh? I couldn't resist slipping that one in).
I know we haven't got everything right, but I'd go out on a limb and say we've pretty much nailed it with our music... and one Mr. Usain Bolt!!
That said - did you all see the teaser for this ad - featuring none other than the living legend himself Jimmy Cliff
Jimmy became famous with this song and being cast as the lead actor in the movie of the same name.
And cemented it when the Boss covered one of his earliest songs - and a wicked cover it was too!

It was kind of funny. I don't see anything racist but I don't run around looking to get butt- hurt over everything in life like the news reporter, so I might be wrong and need sensitivity training until I can think correctly.
