I still have my Judge Dredd comic books from the 80's. Haven't seen the new movie yet, but glad to hear you guys like it. I'll check it out when I can. I never watched the Stalone version.

Blu-ray disc is sitting next to the PS3...7 speakers mounted and wired and jamming Led Zeppelin BBC sessions while I await the brown truck to deliver the subwoofer.
I cancelled the idea of pizza, but picked up this:

to try with the movie.

Is it my imagination, or was Dredd thee liberal utopia?

Did you see recently in the news where they are trying to make the Judge Dredd character gay?

I got Dredd from the redbox and really liked it so I bought it the very next day and watched it again.
I too didn't go see it at the theaters because of the '95 Stallone garbage.
Definitely recommend.

SLO-MO That was a good hook and vehicle for story telling. The movie was fun.
I liked the movie In Time better. I don't like Justin Timberlake but the movie was really very satisfying.

Went to see this in the theater with my girlfriend. We both enjoyed it immensely. The Slo-Mo worked really well in 3D. I hope they make some 3D home release for it, as it really does add a little extra to an already awesome movie. It's nonstop action from beginning to end, excellent gunplay, and you can really tell that they understood Dredd's character.
Unlike the 1995 movie, this one doesn't make the mistake of going too big and losing substance, it's instead cramped, confined, dark and gritty. It's a lot of brutality crammed into a small space, and that brutality doesn't just serve as eye candy, it conveys a story, and like the rogue cop movies of the 70's and 80's Dredd is the kind of character who by necessity becomes as brutal as the criminals he fights. In the case of the Judge Dredd setting though, that manner of brutality is the only way a judge survives. A lot of people dismiss it as mindless action, but look at Dredd next to any Micheal Bay movie and you'll clearly see where the violence serves a purpose versus something that really is just mindless action.

The home video releases are straight DVD or 3D/BluRay/DVD combos. As long as you have a 3D TV, you're set.

I couldn't help but notice your sig line.
And you are right, the film is outstanding. I liked the Stallone version, for all its flaws (which is why I recognized your sig line), but it just wasn't quite right for Judge Dredd. This new version WAS.
Loved Karl Urban's flawless McCoy, loved him as Judge Dredd.

Ha. Not only noticed it, but got the reference. Yeah, the '95 movie was a far cry short of what it could have been, and the presence of Stallone's ego had a lot to do with that. But in concept and writing, it could have turned out better in different hands. I love that line about recycled food.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately i was hammered when i saw it and missed the last third of it. You folks give me hope for this country. Now if you haven't seen End of Watch three times do yourself a favor. It is the best movie to come out in 2012.

+1 for End of watch
No spoilers but the end will blow you away!
I also liked the "speech" they got at the crime scene of the torched minivan.

Watched Dredd last night: good dude movie. The slow-mo bits kind of got on my nerves, but otherwise worth the time.

I watched these movies two nights in a row, without knowing that the plots were so similar. It was quite strange.
