Fairborn, OH: 2 of 5 Home invaders shot UPDATE- 1 dead
Good thing this happened in Ohio and not future NY. It's still early but 5 dirt bags break into a home while owners are there. Both home owners take up arms and shoot at, hitting 2 of the 5. All are in custody now.
Search warrant issued for home, being treated as aggravated robbery.

I live around Dayton and it's pretty bad. Good for the person defending themselves.

I knew Fairborn was rough but that is a little over the top.
Don't want to speculate, but they must have been looking for a good haul to make a five way split worth while. I really hope the homeowners come out pure as the driven snow.

I also hope the homeowner is exonerated.
I do prefer hearing of shots fired in defense of the home, where the BG's are the ones to suffer. This may be a deterrent, or at least adds some penalty to the thought of home invasion.
Wonder if more than 7 rounds were necessary. Hey, Bloomberg........

I'm on the SE side of town, so less crime than other parts of Dayton. There's got to be more to this story. 5 people storming a house?

Yeah I have been wondering the same thing. Possible some idjits from downtown hopped 35 and randomly chose them. Stranger things have happened around here.

One of the residents was injured in the struggle. Hicks said two of the home invaders were shot. One victim was found with life threatening injuries inside the home and the other was found nearby on the street.
Police said officers detained the three other alleged home invaders for questioning.
Hicks said investigators are obtaining a search warrant for the home.
Victim? really?
While it sounds like a drug house robbery, it's still a robbery. Hope they're clean.

Ahhh... Home Sweet Home. Something tells me that drugs might have possibly been involved. Maybe.

So they can find the homeowner's 'arsenal.'
I like how the story fails to explain how the three burglars who were not shot still happened to be there at the scene when they arrived. Maybe, just maybe, the homeowners held them at gunpoint??? How else you gonna force someone to stay put till the cops come?
Guns are mighty handy.

the other link i posted said they ran from the house. One laid bleeding inside, the other made it a block before hitting the asphalt and bleeding out.

The cops found drugs in the house, which they suspect was the motive for the invasion.
I'm shocked I tell you. Just shocked.
I suspect the people living in the house are just as scummy as the invaders.

The Police are conducting an active investigation into a criminal incident that occurred at/in that home.
A search warrant is a legal tool that outlines what Police want to look for, and where they want to look for it, in an area(s) protected by expectation of privacy/laws.
If the Judge who reviews the warrant application agrees with the probable cause outlined in the application the warrant will be signed/granted, allowing the Police to search for items listed in the warrant in areas listed in the warrant.

So if you have something valuable to other people in your house you are not entitled to protect youself?
I have drugs in my house that are quite valuable on the street. If someone robbed my house should I not be able to protect my house? The fact the were legally obtained does not change my right to protect myself.
I have guns in my my house that are valuable on the street. They are illegal for millions of people to own. Do I give up my right to self defense because others now have a motive to rob me?
The only reason it should matter is if the homeowners started the assault. If they didn't they shold go free on the shooting. If they were selling drugs, they should go to jail for that. That is a separate issue. I suppose it is possible that if they were felony dealing and they shot in self defense, and the attackers died, could they by held laible anyway as the death occurred during their commission of a felony. Hmmmmmmm..... might make for an interesting case.

Couldn't find the facebook pages for the other guys in the house. WHIO Article says they're university students and "a small amount" of drugs were found. From this, one would surmise a little weed. OOOoo (I bet they also looked at porn too! OOOOOOhhhhhhhh! The children!)
Yeah...college kids with some weed are just as scummy as five home invaders.

People are just pointing out it is simply part of the 'game'. I have never responded to a home invasion that wasn't a dope ripoff.

If a warrant wouldn't have been mentioned it would have been, "Why are the cops snooping around inside the 'victim' house without a warrant?" I guess a crime scene inside of a "victim" house is off limits and shouldn't be investigated.........
