Home Defense Advice
I posted this in the general forum and it was suggested I post it here, so:
First - I am admittedly a newbie in the gun arena. I do read on the subject every day. My wife and I have taken a private class on gun safety and handling techniques. We've shot at the range 3 times in the last month & I've taken my CWP class.
Our first purchase was a Ruger MK III Lite 22/45 that we have put about 1000 rounds thru and use it for practice and to work on technique. I also bought a Glock 23 and we've put exactly 200 rounds thru it.
We have a home defense plan for an intrusion so my question is:
I was considering a Taurus Judge or S&W Governor to be the HD weapon kept at bedside... but the more I read, the more questions I have about that strategy.
Will a .410 shotgun load stop the intruder?
Is it a "lethal" round?
I'm thinking it would be easier to hit the target after being woken in the middle of the night with a .410 round from a pistol?
But conversely am I better off firing more rounds with standard ammo loads?
Please consider that I am new to guns and I am trying to learn from people with experience when replying. TY
