What is your everyday carry ammo?

What ammo do you have in your EDC?
Do you train with the same ammo?
If not whats your choice of plinking/range ammo?

For me I carry Winchester Ranger 147gr +P hollow points. Because of that my range ammo was Winchester Ranger 147 "law enforcement" FMJ.

I had stock piled PMC, Independence, federal 115gr for courses that I would shot over a 1000rds in.

Now it seems all I can get is PMC which is fine but in a perfect world I think I would buy the Ranger ammo over any other FMJ.

Generally its Gold Dot 147g 9mm, but I am currently carrying HST 147g.

I'm not picky. I have carried Gold Dot, HST, and Ranger in the past and been confortable with it.

Way back when I carried PMC Starfire. Not a bad round even today, but its definitely old technology and there are better choices out there now.

I can't afford to shoot much of my carry ammo, but I suck it up and atleast shoot a couple mags worth to check function before carrying it.

Right now with the current ammo situation I am shooting a lot less and generally what I do shoot is what I can get cheap. Usually not a big steel case ammo shooter but I have been shooting it lately. Better than nothing. My guns so far have fed it well, but not 100%.

In the 32 and 33
357sig 125 gr federal hst. Bought 3 boxes and shot one to ensure function. My range ammo in 357sig is usually 125gr lawman or 125gr federal ae.
In the 26
9mm 124+p federal hst when I used to carry it. Now my wife uses it and I load it with 115gr gold dots for her. Range ammo is usually 115gr wwb or 124gr aguila fmj

230-grain standard-pressure .45 Gold Dots
135-grain short-barrel Gold Dots (.357 for GP100, .38 for various snubbies)

I usually practice with whatever inexpensive range ammo I found before the ammo crunch. I don't have enough Gold Dots to train extensively with them.

I get less and less picky the longer I work in the industry. For many years I preferred Ranger ammo over all others. This was based on the fact the ammo was made locally by my friends, neighbors, and family. Now that they moved south to cheap labor I do not feel the attachment that I once did.

The reality is the major brands are all made to meet or exceed the same standards. Some argue that that standard exceeds what the average person is likely to need.

Also consider some loads that do not meet the FBI Standards have performed very well in real world shootings for decades. Plus how often do you see the use of calipers to determine which load is the best and the worst. When you have to use calipers for these measurements I say the playing field is pretty level.

I have learned to become comfortable with whatever load I happen to have in stock when I need new duty or carry ammo.

Well, IMO , you made a great choice for that 9mil.

In my 45acp's: I carry either 230gr Ranger bonded.
230gr WW PDX1 bonded.
Or my own hand loads, 230gr XTP's.
Or, my loads, 230gr RNFP FMJ.
