Mountain House Freeze Dried #10 Source?
I need to add some more freeze dried food.
Any recommendation for good prices and fresh Mountain House Freeze dried food #10 cans? I've been using Emergency Essentials but wondering if there are better prices out there.

EE is just about the best price wise.. and great service too..
In some areas wallyworld or Sam's has them at a good price..
If you don't HAVE to have MH..
try "Thrive", and go through a "consultant".. near wholesale prices on most things..

Thanks - I haven't seen the #10 cans at Wallyworld - I'll keep an eye open for them.
I'll research Thrive also.

I am trying Saratoga Farms from The Ready Store. Cheaper per serving than MH, same type of cans and mostly the same type of food, including the freeze dried ice cream sandwiches.

I've used Emergency Essentials and these folks, both with no problems:

great sale going on safecastle.com They are a sponsor here too. I just ordered some from them the other day. I think the sale runs thru the end of the month maybe?

That site seems only to sell whole cases. Am I wrong - I can't find individual cans. I want to get a variety.

Consider that just one teaspoon of table salt has 2,325 milligrams (mg) of sodium
Sodium: How much do you need?
The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting sodium to less than 2,300 mg a day — or 1,500 mg if you're age 51 or older, or if you are black, or if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic kidney disease.

Something seems wrong about the Saratoga Farms info - 1/2 cup dry = 1 cup prepared
Mountain house.
1 cup dry = 1 cup prepared
What am I missing?
-------------
I would eat 2 cups for a meal - if the Saratoga Farms info is correct, that would be 2 teaspoons of salt plus whatever salt was in other foods I ate that day - a lot of salt.

You're correct. Whole cases only. Just buy a few cases of some different things. You'll be glad you did!

No prob. I had never bought from them before, but I was pleased with the prices compared to other vendors. Since I didn't really have any freeze dried stuff (except for various pouches) I was excited to see a good deal on the cans to help get my stock built up a little. If I had the money I would have joined "the club" and bought a couple grand worth to get the free big berkey, but with ammo and gun purchases lately that didn't seem wise right now.

I figured that I saved enough with the sale prices to pay the membership cost, plus I have a $20.00 credit. I have purchased from Emergency Essentials and Nitro-Pak - both good companies - but Safecastle's sale was the best I found yet.
