currently using ballistol because it works as Cleaner,Lube,andProtecter. 3 in one.
Some guys from another forum swear by Frog lube as cleaner and lube and then use SBGO on Slide and other areas where metal-to metal. Going to sample on 1 gun and see what I think

Gun Butter oil. A little goes a long way, a great lubricant, it pretty well stays where it's put, and it's what I have sitting around. I also get over 400 trouble free rounds in my AACK with it.

I use a dry lube, WS2, on my Glocks and AKs.

I use the oil at my department's gun range because it is free. When I'm home I use CLP because I have a lot left over from when I was in the military, it was also free.

One of the products I used to sell as an independant rep was Tri-Flow. It's a teflon based lubricant and works very well. I have a lifetime supply in aerosols, pump sprays and grease. I also think Break Free is a very good product.

I have used so many different types, weights, dry/wet/synthetic and petroleum and these products have given me the best performance with Sig's TW25B grease which is even more expensive as moon rocks!~

I have used:
1. M-Pro 7 - I did not care for the smell or the color that stained clothing.
2. FP-10 - I like this lube, but it also has a color and smell I do not like. It is, however, among my favorite general purpose lubes for its lube and corrosion qualities.
3. CLP - I was in the Army for 22 years. It's all we used. Now that I'm retired and can choose, it's not among my favorites. It does not seem to work as well as others for me.
4. Hoppes #9 - Yes, the plain old orange bottle oil. This is a good, all purpose oil, but it does foul easily. It also does not work well on 'hot' guns like my AR.
5. Militec - I got a small bottle in Iraq and used it on my M9. It seemed to work very well and the gun became very slick even when dry. I worry about corrosion after reading about chlorinated ingredients, so I do not use it on my personal firearms.
6. TW 25 B - I like this thin grease for my SIG pistol only. I do not like that it seems to dry and separate easily. I am currently looking for another grease for the SIG.
7. Kellube M12 - I bought this on recommendation from other 1911 users. It is a little thicker than other oils and the color is extremely red. It seems to be tackier than most oils and does not run out from the slide rails as much as other oils. It does not seem to be as slick as many other oils. I guess this is the tradeoff for having a thicker oil? I do not favor this lube due to its staining color.
8. Slip 2000 EWL - I use this oil exclusively in my AR. I am also using it in other firearms now, including Glocks and 1911s. I find this oil to be among the most slick that I have ever tried. I also appreciate that it is colorless and nearly odorless. It does not stain clothing. It does, however, run out easily. Therefore, I question its ability to maintain lubricity over time. I have noticed that residual slickness remains, so there may be some metal treatment additive to this product. (maybe something like Militec? I don't know.) It also does not thicken at all over time.
9. Hoppes Elite Gun Oil - The regular one, Not the one with the T3 moly. I like this oil a lot right now. It is colorless, and nearly odorless. It is a slight bit thicker than the Slip2000 EWL out of the bottle, and it seems to maintain lubricity longer. I do believe the Slip starts out being a bit slicker, but the Hoppes Elite does not run as quickly.

I looked at your XF7 oil on Brownells website. Your price is extremely high compared to other oils. I cannot see spending $10.24 for one half ounce of any oil, no matter how great you claim it is.

i'll give my 2 cents for whats it worth.. i like an oil that --- first offers superior lubrication --- secondly disperses moisture -- third COST.... for that reason i use Mobil 1 motorcycle specific 5W30... for about $7.00 you get a life time supply

I'm right there with you on cost, which is why I commented on the price of the OP's product. I don't want to smell like motor oil, or I would use it as many have commented. Certainly, the oil's ability to lubricate and protect come first. But for me, lack of odor and color have high importance.

I clean with CLP or Rem-oil, and use a small amount of Pro Gold Lube at the major friction points. It has the consistency of spun honey, and I like it because no matter how, or for how long, I store my GLOCK, it is always still right where I put it, and not dried out or run off. It looks similar to the copper colored lube GLOCKs ship with.

I used to use break free and some other kind of clp on my SAW for lubrication, but hoppes products for cleaning. For my hand guns its a mix of Hoppes and Remoil, just depends. Threres no real reason that I use a particular product except on work guns, which i just use the cheapest stuff, because of how much I go through. Hoppes just works, although it smells disgusting.

Update from post 52....tried Frog Lube and didn't like as a cleaner. Illike what it does to the metal but not as a cleaner. Bought an old shot gun and the frog hardly touched it. Did the ballistol as a cleaner and cleaned all of it. Then used SBGO (Silver bullet Gun Oil),and I'll yell ya. That is the best lube I think I've ever used. placed it on a glock and on a 1911 and could instantly feel the difference in the slide. Had the H/W version and it stays where you put it

have you tried it as a cleaner? I let it sit on this shot gun over night two nights because the first night didn't remove anything. So , I figured I did something wrong, so I re-applied the second night and still wouldn't remove the grime from this shotgun, put the ballistol on and started cleaning in an hour.

Talked to rep from FROG LUBE, and he said they were aware of this, and they're possibly coming out with a cleaner...Still haven't seen a cleaner from them

I'm not bashing FL here. Just stating I don't think it works as a cleaner
