It sounds like Buffalo Wild Wings would be a place that attracts lots of folks who enjoy chicken, beer and guns. I can't imagine why the company would voluntarily drive business away in this economy.

I suspect the sign is an insurance compliance issue, and its a CYA thing they would rather not do.

Anyway, we're free to comply, ignore, boycott, demonstrate, write management, dump trash in their parking lot or whatever floats our boat. Someone who enjoys their food would be wise to ask a store manager why the sign was put up before reacting to it.

If the sign is posted to comply with insurance, local code or whatever, the company is doing what responsible businesses do. If management is anti-gun, thats quite a different situation.

Correct. People have been posting these photos and info about Buffalo Wildwings anti-gun position for quite some time. (Several years?)

The first time I ever even heard or read of Buffalo Wildwings was in this context. (And I am pretty sure it was here on GT).

In FL, you wouldn't. Under Fl law, you're ok to go into the establishment so long as you're not seated at the portion primarily licensed to sell alcohol.

In other words, you can get a booth, you just can't sit at the bar. Perfectly legal. Used to go into Hooters for wings and football, actually better wings and more TVs on the wall.

I don't know that the no-guns policy is actually BWW's or its just the franchisee's individual discretion. More than a few of them do ban though from what I've seen here in VA. I don't patronize them.

Certain CC states don't give force of law to no-guns signs, so it pays to check. If that's the case I ignore them but do try to purchase elsewhere if possible to make sure my $$ doesn't support idiots.

My insurance agent at one time freaked out on the phone about me having a gun in the store. I told her I've shot 3 people in selfdefense during attempted robberies. If there is an anti gun clause anywhere in my policy she needs to let me know now and get me a policy with someone else. She called back and said I was good. LOL

I would be a little bit suspect of this being an insurance issue.
If it is I wonder how the insurance company feels about BWW selling alcohol and somebody driving drunk when they leave. That sounds like a more probably law suit waiting to happen than someone CCW.

From the sign, I would think that this location is a Corporate store and not a Franchise. Maybe there policies are different. However, it's in a rough part of town and people get shot often in the streets and parking lots. 2 last year that I recall.

So who is going to escort us to and from our cars if we have to leave our sidearms there???

I checked with my local BWW. No such ban in St. Louis.

Individual managers aside, it's corporate policy and has been for quite a while. As in, over 2 years that I'm aware of.

I was already boycotting them because they don't have any store around here.

Have to say its good to see a Resturant listen to its customers. Went by there today and verified it's not on the doors anymore. Still ate across the street though.

Never been in one. I'm a Subway and Carl's Jr. guy, otherwise I prefer a sit-down mom&pop diner.

In Arizona you CAN carry in places where drinks are served as long as you are not drinking yourself - which describes me (and a whole bunch of other people) whenever I go into a place like that.

They should get a different insurance company, so screw 'em. BWW is a piss hole anyway.

In Florida you can also drink while carrying as long as your BAC is under .08% And that's not even completely clear. The way the law is written it sounds like you can't "use" your gun if inebriated unless it's in self defense. Of course if you shoot someone after you've been drinking it's a certainty that's going to come up in court, either criminal or civil or both.

I limit myself to two drinks over the course of a meal when carrying if I drink at all.

One of those signs has been on the window of my local B Dubs for years. I carry everytime I go there. All they can do is ask me to leave. Screw em. I can always go somewhere else.

Just had a good convo with the GM of my local BWW. I told him the sign really bothers me and my buddies, who come in all the time. He said TBCA made him put it up. He said according to him..."please bring it. It just makes all of us safer." Another guy jumped into the convo spouting off incorrect "laws" and I corrected him about the 51% signs.
Anyways nice guy who made it a point to tell me that I'm more than welcome to bring in weapons and he won't hear a word from him.

What is TBCA?

If you needed to use your gun I'm betting he will deny it.

We've had quite a few self defense shootings in Florida in the early years of our Franchise. The founder wasn't too happy about it. Sent out a letter telling everyone to stay calm as its not the wild wild west yet.... Franchises are more often worried about liability even of your not a corporate store. Lawyers will always pull the Franchise into the lawsuit as they have deeper pockets.

I once had a driver shoot a guy on deliver during a robbery. The driver was on his knees and gave the guy his money. Then the guy shot a round off near his head, and that's when he drew his own gun and shot him.

The news crew asked me if it was "Policy" for our drivers to carry guns. I told her we don't have a policy against it as long as the driver acts within the law for self defense. Which in fact the driver did.
