Aftermarket barrel

Would like to be able to fire heavy led rounds (e.g. Buffalo Bore .45 +p 230 grain FMJ) from my Gen4 G21 for wildlife protection (black bear, cougars) when I hunt. I assume I need an aftermarket barrel to handle a heavy round like that? If so, what do you recommend?

You might wanna reconsider using 45acp for black bear protection. 45acp is a slow round and lacks penetration on bears. They have extremely thick fur, a layer of fat and very strong bones. 10mm, 41 mag, 44 mag, etc are much better suited.

Yes, yes, I'm aware .45 is not the best for black bear protection (Though I think a couple head shots to a bear would do the trick). To be honest, it's mostly for cougar protection. I have a lot more confidence in hitting a big, charging black bear with my 30-30 (primary hunting weapon) than I do with a fast, agile cougar (hence why I will be carrying my new G21 with me this year as a sidearm).

Regardless, I'm just looking for info on a good aftermarket barrel

I agree! The KKM supports better than stock.
