Without a doubt my most reliable autoloader has been my Gen4 Glock 27. Picked it up for $425 through the GSSF program. I have about 2,000 rounds through it with many types of ammo without one failure of any kind. I have used the standard 9rd mags with and without various extensions and 15rd mags. Not a single problem. A friend has had the same results with his Gen4 27.

Second place would go to my Sig P220 Elite Stainless which is significantly more than $600. Not a single problem with the standard 8rd mags but I have had problems with the 10rd mags.

My Rugers/Kimbers/S&W M&Ps are not bad, but I wouldn't trust my life with them over the Glock 27 or Sig P220.

1. Colt Gold Cup NM - $375.00. ZERO malfunctions.
2. Beretta 92FS - $300.00. ZERO malfunctions.
3. Glock G19 Gen3 - $275.00. ZERO malfunctions.


ETA: I gotta be honest, here. I've never paid over $600.00 for a handgun (without tax!), yet.
The most expensive handgun that I have bought, was a S&W mdl 5906, right after they came out. ($595.00 +tax.)
Sold it for more than I paid for it.

I have 4 Glocks. None of them cost anywhere near 600 bux. I have 22K rounds through them combined and none have had any problems what so ever. And they are the easiest to clean and maintain of all my Colts, Rugers, Keltecs, Heritage, and S&Ws.

I won't keep a handgun that gives me problems.
I have owned two (2) that I consider POS.

• S&W mdl 39-2. It was known as a 'jam-o-matic'. Gone.
Being absolutely honest, it COULD HAVE BEEN the magazines.
????? I sold it.

• S&W mdl 5906. Early 3rd gen Smith. Stainless steel. Apparently, the frame and slide were made from the same hardness, stainless.
It was galling itself to pieces. Metal filings and 'metal powder', from shooting it. No amount of lube/grease would stop the galling.
S&W couldn't explain it.

A neighbor offered to buy it for more than I paid for it. "Sold!"
(I really wanted to like that pistol.)

Tied for second my OD G17 and G19.
For third I have to go with a used USP Compact .45 LEM. It was under $600 when I bought it.

All of the above had not had a single anything happen with a buttload of rounds through them.

I've owned many Glocks since about 1989 and fired many, many thousands of roudns through them - all have cost me under $500 and none has ever malfunctioned, even once. Actually, I have about 20 handguns - all cost under $600 - the only one that has ever malfunctioned was the 1911 I built from random parts, mostly used stuff from Ebay and that was just an extractor issue - it has been perfect since I did some work on the extractor.

But for most rounds with 0 malfunction, for way under $600, any of my Glcoks would top the list. mainly either my wife's 34 or her or my 17 for most rounds.

Glock 26. Cost me $400 slightly used. Have close to 5000 rounds through it without a single malfunction.

That includes several hundred rounds fired with a suppressor mounted on it. Looked silly, but worked fine.

Most reliable for me is a tie between my Gen4 G26 and my XDm 4.5" 9mm. The XDm especially as it has had tens of thousands of rounds through it (G26 only has about 2k) and has never once malfunctioned. I would love to add my Gen4 G17 and make it a 3 way tie but the first few hundred rounds were troublesome (usual FTE/FTF issues the Gen4 has on occasion). Thousand of rounds later it is very reliable and does not malfunction. It still spits brass at me from time to time though. =(

Three used smith model 10 revolvers! And they are more accurate out to 50 yards than any center fire auto in the price range. I suspect prices on 6 guns are going to rise here in ny but it was easy to go to my local dealer and get model 10's for under 200 bucks
