Thinking Of Buying A G34

I posted a simular thread over at ARFCOM and got some good answers but I know this is the #1 Glock home .
Anyway it's been about 7 years since I bought a Glock or kept up with them on the internet . Now I'm interested in a G34 . What can you owners tell me about them ?
Do I want a Gen 3 or Gen 4 ? Any BTF problems with the G34 ?
I have a 17,19,21,and a 30 now but there's always room for more right ?
Thanks in advance .

g34 is the most used gun in production classes of idpa and uspsa, can't go wrong with that. that said, if you have a 17 there isn't night and day difference, but the longer sight radius does help. most of the g34's come with a lighter connector and extended slide release, but that is something you could switch out on your 17.

the last two glocks i have bought have been gen 4. the backstrap doesn't matter to me, but the 4's are way grippier than the 3's. no issues with either of mine, just like i expected.

i have warren/sevigny competition wide rear notch and fiber optic front sights on my glocks and they provide nice and fast target acquisition.

I have a Gen 3 G34 I use in USPSA Production and it has been flawless. I also use the warren/sevigny competition sights....

Bought my first Glock last year. The one with the old "defective" ejector and RSA. Somebody forgot to tell my gun. No BTF, 100% reliable, nice pile of ejected cases at 3 o'clock. I did not bother "upgrading" to the new parts.

I have about 2,500 rounds through it. Reloads, REM-UMC FMJ and Federal +P+. Eats everything. With smaller hands, I like the backstrap inserts. With the Gen4 RSA, the recoil is slightly less than the Gen3's. Trigger with the "dot" connector is very good. Only thing I have done is Warren Tacticals.

All of my shooting is defensive, I don't shoot competition. Very easy gun to shoot well. Everything just works (for me). It is has joined my EDC Sigs and 1911's.

I traded my G17 for a G34....never looked back. Same mags and better overall. I also have a G19 that is great to carry. I shot quite a bit of IDPA with it and it runs perfect for me clean or dirty.

Mine runs like a Swiss Watch.

Uber reliable, accurate, super soft shooting, and with a good set of sights and some minor polishing of the trigger components you get a pistol that'll work for even a dedicated 1911 shooter like me.

Get the 34. Great gun and a sweet shooter. Ditch the cheesy adjustable rear sight and get a fixed sight for it.

Once you shoot a Glock 34 you wont want to shoot your other guns.

Just do it! I bought a new Gen 4 G34 back in late December and I am in love! The more and more I work with it, the more I'm happy that I opted for the Gen4 version. While some of the differences are cosmetic, I do like the option of adjusting the grip size more than I thought I would. The extra grippy texture is a bonus and that bigger mag release button is icing on the cake.

I haven't put a tremendous amount of rounds through it due to weather and a shortage of 9mm ammo on my part, but what I did do was take it from the box to the firing line at my local IDPA match with only a basic cleaning and lube. It ran flawlessly for me; only issue for me was not being used to the extended slide release and I'd ride my thumb over the top of it therefor keeping it from locking back on the last round of a mag. I earned a few procedural penalties for my errors but considering it was a completely fresh run, I'll take it!

If you can find one, do it! Only regret you'll have is by waiting too long to buy one!

I have said before, if I had my G34 before my G17 I would have another G34 and no G17.

I just bought a 34 gen3 and have swapped out the barrel only because I want to shoot lead and got tired of the never ending do don't dadadada. (KKM and have no regret)

Trigger is funky and the sights funkier.

Im replacing the sights with Heine Straight 8's then the trigger I'll figure out something, I'll try some hand work first.

Grip is small for my hand and the LOP I' Im going to improve with some home made inserts, G4 would have eliminated that issue. No biggie

It reacts very nicely with slight adjustment in powder and the jury is still out on the one I like best. The KKM slugs at .3550 and the Glock at .3570

The guns a hoot. Get one.
