Hello,

Just picked up both my First gun and my first Glock. I used to shoot shot guns & rifles as a kid. And recently have shot a few different pistols. I really enjoyed it so, why not have my own!!

I picked up a used (100 rounds through it) Glock 19 Gen 4. I feel I got a great deal considering today's market. I got it for $485.00..

Test fire date of 10-11-2012. So very new..

I hope to get out to the range soon.. Once proficient, i would like to get my CCW. What is a good ammo for range and Self defense rounds?

I hope to learn allot...

Welcome from Des Moines! Range ammo whatever is cheapest. For sd ammo in 9mm i have 147gr winchester ranger bonded because it was good bang for the buck from sgammo.com but its probably not available now. Speer gold dots are always good. My 9mm is not my primary defense weapon. I carry an xdm compact .40 with winchester 180gr bonded that are sold as pdx in stores. They come in 9mm also i bet and they are great ammo. Everything is going to be pretty scarce right now. For your carry permit i would definately recommend controlled chaos out of baxter. Its not some bs classroom course. Its actual pistol training and the instructors are both iowa law enforcement academy instructors and both are dmpd swat officers i think (1 is for sure).
