Ok. Section 1 dealt with equality involving the "black code"
Not the thin blue line.

However, the 3rd section may be how some pro 2A congressmen are removed.

I owe you an apology, I thought kenpo involved a baton. Sorry.

During his statement on the bill when nay vote Mclaughlin asked about the number 7 the fellow speaking on behalf of the gov. meekly replied 'thats the # the governor wanted.' So apparently it was an arbitrary # less than 10 but more than 2.

From what I read on the new law, the first offense for possessing a mag over the new seven round max is a civil penalty of $200.00.

The way coppers seem to look out for their brothers in NY, combined with the fact the 1st time is a civil penalty, I can't imagine a decent rank-and-file NY road officer giving a rat's derrier about another leo's mag cap.

Just the fact that this discussion is taking place is sad.

Anyone who feels like moving is not an option, please keep in mind that in most areas of the country, 3000/month will get you a LOT more than 650 sq ft. on the 8th floor. And one dollar can get you more than 16 oz. of Coke. We have high capacity 32 & 44oz. cups here.

If you leave that six figure NY position for one that pays 50-60k in a more reasonably priced area, you might actually come out ahead.
I hate to see fellow countrymen feel trapped in a high tax/ low freedom state.

I mean, with the previous NYS 10-round mag restriction, there was the Clinton national AWB which had the 10-round restriction. When that expired, NYS said, "OK, we're keeping it." I can see that logic flow.

But this 7-round thing? This has as much logic flow as some GNGers' posts.
It makes perfect sense. There are very few semi-autos that have 7 round mags. It seems to me like a backdoor way to practically ban the vast majority of semi-autos.

I just heard from a friend of mine who is retired LE, and now lives and works as an armored car driver in the state of NJ. He told me, last Friday they got the official word that when they are working in NY (they do money dropoff/pickups across the George Wash Bridge in Washington Heights, Fordham and Baychester areas of the Bronx in addition to Mt. Vernon (a place where he told me the accounts there told them to NEVER come to after dark for any money related transactions...)

they got word their mags have to be downloaded to 7 rounds starting this past week.

As most here know, armored car/guards/companies are registered in each state, but operates under a federal license...meaning a company that is licensed in PA can send a truck + armed guards virtually anywhere in CONUS to pickup/dropoff money*.(*caveats & rules exist)

He is pissed...tells me he is looking to switch his route to NJ/PA only, and for the meanwhile is ignoring the company regs on how many magazines he should have (3) on his person (now has five, hopes he never needs to use any).

So basically the new restrictions is based on the honor system. And does this mean NY gun owners can now own "hi-cap" mags as long as they only load to 7-rounds?

I am going to go into work tonight and arrest myself and all the other people I work with.
Not sure of the section of law it will be under or the degree of the charge, and have not gone out of my way to find out.
The only way I see myself arresting somone for this charge is if it is associated with a bad guy doing a bad thing. Not a proactive arrest section for me.

Can keep your own 10-round mags, but just fill to 7. Can't sell them instate. Can't buy new ones. Can't buy new guns with a 10-round mag (well you could buy the gun, but not the mags).

Future gun purchases limited to 7-round mags. As if that is common. Means a lot of new shooters are severely limited to gun options.

11+ mags are forbidden. Either sell out of state, toss in garbage, give to police, or modify to hold no more than 10 (only allowed to put 7 bullets in them).

Jeepers, almost like we don't have any Constitutional rights.

Personally, this is what I think the law should state:

If you have a permit, or are otherwise lawfully permitted to carry a gun (cop, retired LE, armed security guard), so long as your gun is properly concealed, and you are not involved in any felonious activity, you can carry what you want, with whatever rounds you can also conceal on your person.

If you are a felon, a nut bag, a juvenile (minor), or are planning /conspiring to run afoul of the law, you can only have 7 rounds in your magazine.

Yes, stupid, but oh so appropriate for this state.

Don't go to NY and don't go go NJ.

Heck, the sad part is that CA, for all its nonsense about guns, is better than those states still for the most part, even when it comes to non-LEOSA issues.

No doubt, if I was a betting man, and lived in Nevada...

I hear you have to weld 2 of the chambers shut so it will not exceed 3 shots and if you have a magnum caliber, you have to weld all of them and make it a single shot revolver.
