has anyone ever heard on a gen 1 with a factory nickle slide?

No such thing.

Often, people polish off the finish and leave the bare metal sowing, which can look like a satin nickel. Also, Robar's NP3 finish was especially popular in the 90s and a lot of 1st and 2nd Gens were refinished with that.
