Las Vegas, NV 2013 Photo & Debriefing Thread

No photos from the match, but I should have some video in the next few days for anyone that is interested. The weather was awesome, and the turnout a little lighter than expected. PM720 and myself finished our combined 11 divisions in a little under five hours, which is not too shabby if you ask me.

For me it was my first GSSF match of the year and a great day at that. I completed the first of what I hope to be all of my 2013 goals (breaking the 100 second barrier for the first time), and I did it in 3 of the five divisions I competed.

Not sure if my times are good enough for any placing, but here's to hoping.

Am Civ - 119.40
Competition - 135.05
Am Sub Compact - 98.50
Am Heavy Metal - 89.83
Am Maj Sub - 76.48

*Hopefully I added everything up correctly.

Looking forward to the prelims to see how I ranked, and of course the infamous random draw!

Yep, like 1Roundeye said it was a great day for shooting. Clear, sunny and in the 60's with virtually no wind. A dramatic improvement from last year! There were a few minor procedural issues but in the end they didn't really amount to anything. Just me being a stickler for proper GSSF procedures I guess. I left a plate up in Major Sub but was VERY pleased with my Civilian and Unlimited times. This was my second time in Unlimited and first time out with a relatively stock (no comp or red dot) G34. Picked up a TON from Conyers! Sorry Kitty! Here are my numbers-

Comp- 98.25
AmCiv- 76.53. New Personal best by about 10 seconds
Unltd- 66.41 Had 2, 3 second strings on plates with a best of 3.47
Sub- 110.36
HM- 119.03
MajSub- 64.67 1 plate up.

Can't wait for the next one!

Did you have those special homing rounds in the UNL mags? With a score like that, you apparently don't need comps or dots. What other mods were made from stock in the UNL gun? I guess you saved a few seconds by not needing to stop and whack the red dot... That's like cheating!

What gun did you shoot in Competition?

The G34 has a stippled grip, plastic magwell, "-" connector with mild polishing and Dawson adjustables. The trigger need more work. WWB ammo . Oh yeah, I used standard mags so no 10 round mag induced failures either.

I used my G22 in Comp and AmCiv with AAA .40 minor like usual.

Unfortunately I don't seem to have any of the AmCiv or Unlimited plate runs but I think those were filmed by another guy. I guess I will post those when I get them.

I understand that ALL California ammunition has "Left" leaning tendencies!

When my 'friends' see me ROing at GSSF, they look for another RO/Stage 'cause I count the shots! That rather implies though that they shoot 12, not 9, if no one's counting. You're going to have to cheat better if you ever want to amount to anything.

You can't blame it on me this time, I didn't load your mags.

Would the ROs have known (and agreed) that you could have had a reshoot? Apparently they weren't counting either.

If we are talking the plate racks, if they cannot get six hits with 11 rounds, is 12 rounds really "cheating"?

Such that you feel a need to add insult to injury by dinging them with another 10 second procedural penalty?

Generally... I try to run an 'M' - but regardless, they get the benefit of the doubt and get a reshoot for an assumed brain freeze.

ETA: The closest I've ever come to giving a Pro was in Morganton when a shooter thought it was perfectly fine to start at high-ready, finger on trigger - every string, every Division, because he had "always done it that way". Not on my watch!

I've had times when that 12th round would have done me some good. :(
