Woo Hoo! 2nd Civilian and a 6th in Unlimited! I'm happy! Top amatuer in Major Sub and no gun AGAIN! That would be 3 if people would shoot the division. Overall, VERY happy!

Overall, it's the best I've ever done, so I'm extatic!

But then you'd be a Master, and things only get harder from there.

All is not yet lost.

With 299 entries, there are 6 Random guns to be awarded, when the finals come out in a month or 6 weeks or so.

Pfft, Scott is fine. He can swim in the deep end.

If you both are coming up to Yolo and let me borrow a gun I will shoot HM to try and get 10 entries.

It's MajSub that's the problem, not HM. Either way I am sure Scott will offer up the G30.

Yeah, she's my little Hoe. I'll let anyone have a turn with her for the right price, you GOTTA shoot Major Sub!

I really thought Vegas would have enough turnout to make it work but I guess not this time.

After my first match in Tucson last year, my goal was to break the 100 sec barrier this year. I did it 4 out of 4 tries, including an 85 in sub compact.

I guess I am gonna need some new goals

Thanks. A lesson for new shooters to the sport: My raw time (combined all 4 entries) was 50 seconds slower in Vegas, but I gained a total of 108 SECONDS in penalties by slowing down a little and guaranteeing my shots.

Dang. A 71 takes 1st? Here in the Deep South, 60 (or sometimes better) takes 1st, 70 usually doesn't even get paid.

2012 Griffin, GA - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2011/2012gga.pdf
2012 Morganton, NC - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012mnc.pdf
Columbia, SC - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012csc.pdf
Charleston, SC - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012ssc.pdf
Knoxville, TN - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012ktn.pdf
Dawson, GA - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012dga.pdf
Conyers, GA - http://www.gssfonline.com/results/2012/2012cga.pdf

It's a bit of a curse being down here, some serious shooters. I took 3rd at Griffin with a 60 and two FORTYs beat me.

The Vegas match was using the #1 Five to Glock, with targets at 15, 30, 45, and particularly, 60 and 75 feet.

Due to range contraints, I have seen some alternate 5-2-G setups that only went out to 45 feet. With 2 targets at 21, 2at 30, and only one out at 45 feet.

Morganton, NC for example.

Obviously, with more targets closer in, scores are going to be better.

So, scores from one match to another are not directly comparable.

Ummmm... yeah. I've shot at least 16 of these, I've seen the different setups. Columbia, SC always uses the 75 feet distance on 5 to Glock and there were 4 scores under 70. Knoxville, TN? They are the ONLY venue that uses a "v" shaped setup where the V is closest to the shooter, the two FAR targets are both at 70 feet and we had a 58 and 61 there.

Look at all the scores for the deep south versus other venues up north and out west. Some of the Master scores there are low, but Amateur scores are usually much higher than the scores here. I've been tracking that for 4 years as I try to win my first gun (multiple 2cd and 3rds but no win yet), and I feel comfortable saying I'd be a Master if I was shooting anywhere but here.

Yeah, it's like losers who say "I'm just shooting against myself anyway..." Winners smile all the way to the FFL to pick up their Glock.

I believe we used version 6 on our 5 to Glock; V pointed at the shooter but I think the maximum distance was 60' for a 60-40-20 distance array. Glock M was V at shooter, 45-20feet and plates at 33-36-39.

That long "V" shape at Knoxville with two 70' targets was the only "Five to Glock" "shape" that would fit into that range and not put bullets into their cinder block walls.

In any case, the Knoxville GSSF match is now history, so you won't be seeing that setup there again anyway.
