Hello from MN. Just picked up a Gen 3 G-17 last Saturday. I had been looking at Glocks and thinking about buying one. It was fate, walked into Gander Mountain and they had gotten 4 in that day. It was fate. I had been trying to make up my mind whether to get a 17 or 19. They had a Gen 4 19, but they had jacked the price up on it to $639, so I went with the Gen 3 17 for $549. I thought in Dec they were only running $579. I am very happy with the gun, just need some warmer weather so I can shoot it more! I need to get some better sights, and hope to shoot in a couple of GSSF matches this summer.

What part of MN are you from? I was having the same debate over whether I should get the 17 or 19 and ended up with a 23 Gen. 4 haha.

Yes sir... I actually used to have an office in Farmington across from Econo-Foods. I guess it's called Family Fresh Market now.

Welcome. A great group of folks here. Your sights are probably fine. I wouldn't stress on replacing them. I've left all three of my Glock's sights stock (one is night sights). They work well.
Take a few moments to look around at the sub forums. You can "subscribe" to them when you're there, and they'll show up in your User CP (see right hand side links). That makes it easy to go to your favorite forums quickly.
Happy shooting! (in the sixties today here in Louisville)

Thanks for the advice, I really want to put some rounds through it before I change them. My top priority right now is at least 3 spare mags...

I agree with that GM is overpriced.... dont know why they jacked up the g4s. I thought i did ok for my g3, would have been close if i had mail ordered it and paid the transfer fee and the overiding fact was that they had one there

Ganders ammo prices are ridiculous. I avoid them as much as possible.

I agree. I was estatic to find Federal 115 FMJ at wally world for $12 a box on Wednesday. If things get back to normal, I am going to sign up for the GSSF for two years and buy either a model 19 or 20 for the discount price. I dont think one glock is enough. lol

Have you noticed that Fleet Farm has kept their prices the same as before the chaos started? They only allow customers to purchase one mag and only five boxes of some ammo. I appreciate their business style.

I used to live in Edina... when I asked for a permit to purchase - the lady at the PD desk looked like I had just asked to kill her kittens. Got the form, but took an officer to find them since she insisted they didn't allow that kind of thing there. Man, it's a different world. ;D

I've had no problem buying more ammo than that- I bought 15 boxes of 7.62x39 a month ago and two weeks ago a bought the spam can of 1260 rounds of same- alonh with 5 bricks of .22lr
What I don't like is them logging your driver's license for ammo purchases.
Other than that, I love Fleet farm- nothing like the smell of chicken feed and new rubber tires greeting you at the entrance.

I plan on it. Will also probably go to Souix Falls SD. Are there any GSSF indoor matches in MN?
