Minimum number of mags for one AK?

I know you can never have too many mags for any gun.
But I just ordered my first AK.
Initially I got three mags, like I do with a new handgun.
But with the ban likely I added a few more.
Then a few more - LOL!
Currently have nine for the one AK.

What's the Consensus minimum number of mags for one AK?

Thanks

Depends if you're going to be carrying them on you or you're in a stationary position.

For carrying I usually try to aim for at least 6, whereas being stationary I'd think you can never have enough (unless you become one of those hoarding people on one of those shows, seeing someone buried under a pile of mags wouldn't help the cause right now).

The minimum is as many as you can afford. Magazines are disposable items (even AK magazines, though they tend to be tougher than others). If you want to have reliable magazines for life, then you need to stock up. If I knew that I would never be able to get them again, I'd want at least 20, if not 100.

I got 4 30's a 10 I think. Not sure never used it. And a 75 drum, I rarely shoot it anymore and when I do it's 30-60 rounds usually.
And for some reason I want another one.

I took the last Four they had my friend.
I've emptied the stock of Bulgy 5.56 Circle 10 mags from two sources.
Really don't know of anyone that has any in stock.
Sorry...

I have 20 30rd mags. 19 are quality steel surplus and 1 is a Bulgy Circle 10. I would like to have more but I might of waited too long. I can't bring myself to pay $25 for one mag.

Something wrong with me mentally, but I'd feel uncomfortable with less than 20 per rifle. I have 35 gen3 pmags for my 1 AR and I'm kicking myself for not buying more (and not so I can sell them at jacked prices either). I only have 25 AK mags for my 1 AK and I'm even more pissed I didn't buy more.

I bought all that knowing a ban could be coming (per sandy hook), knowing mags are disposable and that I may not ever be able to buy more. I like having at least 9 mags per handgun that accepts more than 10 rounds as well, you can never really have enough in the face of a possible ban, just saying.

Just checked K-var.com, and their store is temporarily closed so they can process orders. My guess is they're out of stock on most of their stuff anyway.

Wonder how long this run on guns, mags, and ammo will go on for?

I'm not 100% sure and I may be missing a few details but I believe imports from Bulgaria are allowed (that's how the scrubbed Russian plums got in). However, anything worth over $100 needs to have a Form 6 filled out and approved by Customs and/or ATF.

I think the more important question will be what will the prices be at the end.

When it wants to; the federal government can move very quickly. Post 9/11 the TSA was formed in about 70 days - this is the yardstick I'm using. A new AWB in some form could be law by the end of February or March at the latest.

7.62 has gone from reasonable, to crazy to plain insane if you can find it at all. Just yesterday I saw some places charging $650 for corrosive surplus which pre-CT was running what...couple of hundred bucks.

You can't even find stuff like 20 gauge, .22LR, 9mm at a lot of places.

I think it may end as quickly as it started. If GT, Brown Bear and the like suddenly go to 5.56 prices at say $400/1,000 or more I know I'm not buying much more - I've been buying ammunition monthly for whatever I can find on sale I shoot for about 5 years. Just yesterday I saw Silver Bear 500 rounds for $300? Can't remember which bulk dealer it was but there it was.

If part of the new AWB is a restriction on online ammo sales - the market will get even worse.

Thank you, I got to the same information but was not sure if this is reliable info... I know for a fact that Bulgarian site have restrictions for exporting "small parts" including mags, when it's done in a commercial way, by a company selling for profit, but was told that private seller can send some mags... I guess it is legal still to receive it under the mentioned by you conditions... Thanks again for the info!
