45 caliber ammo
I have about 150 rounds of 45 ammo but don't have a 45 caliber hand gun.
I was offered a trade for the same (qty.) of 9mm ammo
My question is this a fair trade?

Only if you're happy about it. 45 auto usually runs a bit more $$ than 9mm if brand, type, etc are the same.
For example, last time I bought ammo (pre OBummer), 100 rounds of Win whitebox 9mm ran $19.95 while 100 rounds of the WW WB 45 auto was $29.95.
My 9mm Federal HST's ran $24.95/50 and my 45 auto HST's were $29.95/50.

Right now 100 rds of Win WB 45 is about $40 plus tax, if you can find it.
You can't find 9mm in this area.

I haven't seen any ammo on the shelves around here except 12 gauge and some 17hmr rimfire.

So a fair trade sounds like my 150 rounds of 45 for 200 rounds of his 9mm

If your .45 is FMJ and the 9mm is JHP... Deal.

That's right - get a G21 or a G36.

The other party is definitely getting the better deal. For example, if both of you were to sell each on the open market, you would get a higher price.
Now, what I would suggest in a pure trade is to trade retail price to retail price. For example, give him $50 worth of .45 ammo and he will give you $50 worth of 9mm ammo. Or, you could just trade him a pound of .45 for a pound of 9mm. .45 is usually about 50% more in cost across the board, I would say 100 rounds of .45 is equal to about 150 rounds of 9mm. If he is a fair person, not looking to slide one by you, he would take that.
BTW, I would gladly trade anybody as much 22LR, round for round, for 5.56/.223 ammo. Heck, round for round, I would give anybody 22LR ammo for just about any caliber imaginable. LOL
