Right now Winchester is offering the Ranger T ( non bonded produces the sharp "talons" and the Ranger Bonded (basically the same design as the T but bonded, does not produce the very large talons the T does). The PDX-1 is basically Ranger Bonded in 20rd boxes. I believe Winchester used to offer the Ranger SXT which was replaced by the Ranger T.

I have read that the sxt has 8 petals and the T has only 6. the box I have says 357sig 125 grn. SXT and the code is RA357SIGT. it also says ''law enforcement ammo'' on the box. I'm familiar with HSTs and Gold Dot but not Winchester. I'm just trying to figure if this is good SD ammo.

The T series will have bigger talons than the SXT but the SXT talons should be slightly sharper. I do not see an issue with using it for self defense purposes. Petal count should be the same with both.

The Ranger SXT was discontinued in 1998 and replaced with the T series that you have. It was discontinued in 2008 and replaced with the T-Series Enhanced.
Ranger SXT was not made in the 357SIG but was made in 357mag and 44 mag. Both were dropped from production with the SXT.
In the late 1990's we were told to push the 357Sig as the replacement LE round for the 40 cal. It never caught on and is just slowly fading away.

Sad but true.
I've got four handguns that run 357 Sig.
Getting ammo to feed them lately has not been fun.
My local range hasn't had 357 target ammo in months.
It sure looks like it's going the way of the 10mm.
I've picked up 40 S&W barrels for three of them.

I think for two reasons: the cost and moreso that many average shooters seem downright intimidated by it. That has always baffled me as it surely torques less in the hands than a hot .40 S&W. Note that I said hot, i.e., a true duty round in the 155 - 165 gr. category and not the pantywaist 180 gr. stuff. Must be the muzzle report.

I just sold a 32 barrel and about 600 rounds of 357sig in GD and HST to fund a 30SF purchase about 6 weeks ago.
last week a guy comes into my shop for some boat work and gives me a deal on a very clean Sig P229 in 357sig and 3 mags in trade for some work, I couldn't pass it up. this is my first Sig pistol and I really like it. yesterday he stops buy and gives me 250 rounds of the Ranger ammo I was asking about and a hundred rounds of white box for free. I guess he liked my work.
