After finding out I get a huge discount at work from sig im looking at a bunch of there guns. Ive always wanted a 1911 and saw that sig sauer makes a couple. Can anyone speak from experience about their pistol/rifles?

I have a 226 and 239. They are very well built guns. Their triggers suck though. I don't have any experience with their 1911s

I have owned a few Sigs and kept my 1911. Not that I don't love them, but a trade always happens. I kept my 1911 Scorpion because it just fits perfectly. Sig makes great products. My next gun is their piston AR, the 516.

I have a P220 Carry, P225,and a P226 Navy; all of which are flawless shooters. No experience with their 1911's.

Can be a little big for carry depending on what you are used to.

I own a P226 Tac Ops 9mm. One of the best shooters you can get, DA trigger is good and SA with SRT (Short Reset Trigger) is awesome, for sure is not for carrying (stock magazines are 20 rounders)

I'm a Sig Armorer and am issued a P228 (M11). Over the years, I have owned just about every make and model of Sig and had as many as 20 at one time. I currently own 2 Sigs (traded one away last night), a P6 and a P239. Having been a big Sig guy over the years I can tell you that I am not as impressed with their latest offerings as their earlier guns. They are fine weapons, but in my opinion, not worth the money they are asking for them. I prefer the older, folded steel slides and all-German made guns.

My beef is that their prices continue to rise while they are taking cost-cutting manufacturing steps. They use MIM parts now and I have witnessed several take-down levers breaking, making it next to impossible to take the gun apart after it breaks. The overall quality of craftsmanship has gone down. They've had to replace agancy P229s because their slides were milled wrong and causing feed issues because the barrel was binding in the slide. What did Sig do after? Put the bad guns into circulation as CPO guns.

Early Sigs: P225/P6, folded Steel Slide P220, folded steel slide P226, early P229s, early P239s, and P228s are great.

If you want a 1911, I would get one from a company that specializes in 1911s. I had a Dan Wesson vBob Valor and it was an outstanding 1911.

Had a 229 several yrs. ago. Without doubt it was the most accurate gun I've ever shot. An absolute tack driver offhand slow fire at combat distances. I can only imagine what that pistol might have done from a rest.

I have a few. The oldest is old enough to be marked Tysons Corner and a year ago I got a P220 stainless elite which has the best single action trigger of any non-1911 pistol I have ever experienced. A fair number of people on here suggest the older non US ones are better. I also like GLOCKS

Had a P225 at one time that was a dandy little handgun, but could never fall in love with the DA/SA trigger on it. They are introducing a P226SAO model shortly that does look very interesting.

I have a P239, P220 and 1911-XO at the moment and will probably have a P229 and P229 Elite within a week or so.

The XO is the best shooting 1911 I have, even when compared to a Colt Gold Cup. I really like that gun! I like everything about it and especially the trigger.

The downside to the Sig 1911s is that they don't fit traditional 1911 holsters. The slide profile is different. Sig makes a Serpa style holster that works well but I don't think I like Serpa holsters for 1911s. Don Hume makes a leather holster but it took a while to get one (6 months or so).

I have read that the newer Sig 1911s will use a more conventional slide profile but I haven't seen one.

If I were buying yet another 1911, I would put Sig at the top of the list.

I have the full size Scorpion 1911 and i love it. Its very accurate and feels great in my hand with the Hogue G10 grips and the textured front strap. the slide to frame is exceptionally tight (possibly due to the Duracoating) and therefore i have to run it really wet. i've only put 400-500 rounds through it and i still experience the occasional FTF and it seems to happen on more often than not on the last round in the mag. at least thats what it was doing last night after we had put about 100 rounds through it. Once i took the slide off and put some more CLP on the rails, it ran perfectly. I alternate between the Scorpion and a Glock 19 as my EDC and honestly, i am more accurate with the Sig.

I have two - XO and RSC. Both are exceptional... sold off two (factory) Colts recently, keeping these.

I have two P229s, 1 9mm & 1 40/357 three P239s, 2 9mm and one 357/40. In the past I have owned a P239 9mm that I gave to my dad, a P220 that I sold to my nephew for a smoking deal and a P245 that I traded. I have never had any reliability issues with a Sig and they are very accurate. The P245 had a horrid trigger when I got it barely used so I detail stripped it cleaned and put TW25B on all mating surfaces and that was fixed.

I have owned or do own Sig 229, 239, 220 and 226. I currently own two 1911 sigs and think very highly of them. I never liked the Sig (or any other company for that matter) DA/SA triggers. After I found the DAK trigger Sigs quickly became one of my favorite weapons, 220 probably being my favorite.

The weapons and customer service are solid and that is what you can expect. All models I have used are way more accurate than me and most shooters.

All my older Sigs (210-5, 220, 229, 239) have been flawless and good to go.

I can't speak for their newer incarnations through actual use though.

I have a Sig 1911 Carry Nightmare model. One of my favorite pistols. Never had any issues and it is a really sweet shooter.
