You come across strong in person?? P'SHAW! I'd have never guessed.
Yap, complain, stomp, cry, whatever. But before, during and after that, if you are worth your salt, you'll do a double-check to see if you might resemble the person he/she was speaking about. It COULD be you. And do you really want to go through life being thought of as "that guy"???
I'm not saying you are or aren't. I don't know you or the leprechaun sitting on your shoulder in your avatar, but when I hear something negative about myself, even if I'm ADAMANT it's them, I do a pretty thorough self-check anyhow.

You can not beat them "at their own game". The "Over Lords" have taken control and left you no security , or power !
All anti Unions should take a look at history (Nuclear Jack Welch-GE , Ragan-omicis with it's 'trickle down , lean and mean , can do ethics ) and what we should have learned by now.
Profiteers , call the shots now and no , you have no-one to cover your back now . You are a family man so you need to take a step back and look at it another way.The "Ball" is not in our court anymore so ?
Employers have become "Over Lords" so as one family man to another , know your limits and chill the "Testosterone" !

He has every right to be pissed! I for one would not be to happy if somebody made a complaint against my persona regardless of what it is. We are individuals and have the right to be who we are. If other people have an issue with that it is their problem not his.

Contact GLADD and get a free button to wear around the office. Then look people in the eye and speak confidently as usual.
How could they possibly have a problem with that?

There is nothing wrong with you and I wish you well. In todays disfunctional workplace, many are found not to be a good fit due to color, size, weight, accent, and the list goes on. Know that many groups would give all for someone like you.

It is, unfortunately, all too true. I have been accused of "standing aggressively" at my present job, more than once. As I work at an ultra-liberal agency for people with disabilities, I am surrounded by metro-sexual and, to be nice, less than manly men.
You guys should appreciate this. At a training on workplace violence, the presenter asked everyone in the room if anyone had ever been in a fight on their job. There was maybe 100 of us there. I was the only one to raise his hand. The presenter again asked if anyone had ever been in more than one fight on their job. Again, I was the only one to raise their hand. To say the room got silent, and I got lots of awkward looks would be an understatement. That afternoon I was called in to HR, and the questions started. I was able to explain that I had worked as a bartender and bouncer at a local bar, and at one point I had a fight on my hands every night for about 6 months straight. I also explained that was the primary reason why I decided on a major career change. I still get looked at askance by many of my coworkers, but I don't really give a damn.

If you meet with HR, use intellect over reason in any and all arguments or defenses you use. HR higher-ups are used to dissecting emotional issues at work. Don't play on those terms or you'll lose. Edit - and there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Just keep a level head. Thank you for your service to this (once, and will be again) great nation.

I was accused of something similar several years ago, being too "mean looking" and "intimidating" by a few of the factory floor workers.
I made a conscious effort to use "please" and/or "thank you" in every verbal communication from that point forward.
The complainers still complained, but the higher ups dismissed it because I was known to be so polite.
