I recently posted about a new rem. 514 single shot youth rifle. I found out its really a repacked marlin xt22.
The groups were outstanding for the first 40 rounds or so. With blazers or mini mags the groups ranged from .09"-.226" at 50 yards. Now all of a sudden they are .75-.95". I tried cleaning it to no avail. There was no wind at all. I realize Im complaining about great groups, but I would like to get the original accuracy back. The only thing I did was paint the stock. I tightened the action screw back to original and I had it off several times before the groups fell off.
Could the little bit of paint I got inside the stock have caused this? I did paint where the action sits and the barrel also. I wouldnt think that little bit could cause this.
These are some of the original groups.
