On the interwebz, you can proclaim your manhood and belittle everyone else's.

Glock has underwhelmed.

this thread has jumped the shark.

My EDC was an M4 and an M9 for a few years (with an M249 SAW as back up), anything else (other than an M240) is simply not enough.

Slide on a G30 is THICK.. As much as I love my 30, I'll be looking at one of these.
Why not just get a 36 then? A 30S is stupid

It's lost on me too. To me the grip is what makes a 30 a thick, not the slide. The 36 is my least favorite Glock.

My EDC was very similar but it changed depending on my post for the day from M9 to A2 to M203 to M60 to M249 to Gatorade (fighting off that evil dehydration)

With the G30s idea, it just feels like a normal gun. The grip of a G20/21/30/29 isn't any larger than a Beretta, Sig, or most S&W's. Glocks just have thin grips and so do 1911's. No one would like a 1911 with a extra wide grip.
A 30s just feels like a real gun, I have years of experience behind a Beretta and I feel a balance of similarity when I hold a Glock 30/36 hybrid.

A 30/36 hybrid seems lazy to me. Why make a new gun when you can just takes spare parts from current guns and slap them together. Is this Glock or Harley Davidson? I guess innovation is no longer a part of perfection.

Did you post this on glocks facebook page?

So, if the rumors are true, the new model for SHOT Show is the 30S (36 and 30 hybrid). If that's the case, then I think Glock has truly given up on making new models. When your "new" model is just taking parts from existing guns and slapping them together, innovation has died. See Harley Davidson for an example.

ilgunguygt, I did indeed post that to their FB page. Hey, I notice there isn't a "like" for that though.

Is there anything new on this? I can't look at all the stuff on Facebook because I don't have an account, but I don't see anything more recent than the Glockified Chive poster...

Nothing yet. We know that it is a "forum" site...but not "just" a forum, in Glock's opinion.

A Glock, especially the G30, is hardly has a thin grip. Compared to a Beretta maybe. But man those are the fattest kids on the block. Yet, there are some who feel they can carry a G30 in their pocket too!

No where close to a 1911. The grip on the Glocks is wider than it has to be due to the design of the polymer coated thick ass magazines!

I worked for glock last year as one of their commercial sales managers. You will never see a slim 9. Their answer is always : We make combat pistols. Glock has absolutely no interest in listening to their customers nor following trends. They are the best pistol on the planet, and they keep saying that to themselves daily.

Great pistol, but the people in Smyrna are inbred hicks. Most of the company is run by people who haven't a clue, and they typically hire their entire family to work with them.

Honest to god, it was one of the worst jobs in my long career.

Some odd statistics that many don't realize when you take a caliper to Glock pistols vs 1911's, thought it was relevant in light of the discussion as to why a G30 with a slimmer slide makes a difference.

Measurements courtesy of DocGKR from M4carbine

olt 1911 w/G10 grips: slide width = 23.3 mm / grip width = 33.5 mm

S&W M&P45 w/small grip: slide width = 27.3 mm / grip width = 30.3 mm

S&W M&P40 w/small grip: slide width = 26.0 mm / grip width = 30.3 mm

G19: slide width = 25.4 mm / grip width = 31.2 mm

You need to read my post again. The Beretta has a thick grip and it is about the size of a G30. To me they are both too large but you can live with it. To me the slide is what makes it too large for a purpose. If you have ever held and shot a G30/36 hybrid you would understand.
Oh and the thick slide on a regular frame? Glock destroyed the Gaps. Putting that same thick heavy slide on top of a grip no matter what size turns away about 50% of people that touch them.
The Gap reminds me of a F350 slide in camper in the bed of a Ford Ranger.

Glocks do not have thin grips like a 1911...unless the only 1911 you've ever held was a Para with a double-stack mag.
