I just purchased my first G19 so I am new to the Glock world. I've done alot of reading on here and a good number of folks feel Glock's best days are behind them. My Gen3 is peppering me in the head with brass but it's brand new. I'm going to put at least 500 rounds through it before I complain too loudly. It may run fine after some shooting.
Personally, It would seem a slim 9 & 40 would have been money in the bank for Glock. The Shield's are bringing whopper prices and are selling as fast as they can be got. Maybe Glock felt re-tooling would cost more than they were worth??

Hey added the rifle range specifically for the Glock ID site. it will have issues with its baud rate at the start. then tech support will have to close controversial threads. people will play kiss butt and fluff the egos of the admins there forming a clique.

BTW, this is my longest thread ever! Go me!

They are saying that it will not go active until late February...they wisely did not say what year...

This year, but it will ban people randomly for no reason.

Given the overwhelming sound of crickets, I'd kind of figured that this was the case.

Whoever Glock's market research person is needs to be fired. We have been asking for a single stack 9mm G26 for years and what they do is throw out this hybrid G30, which still has the same wide a** grip the standard G30 has, which is the widest part of the gun.

Maybe a hand full of people said they wanted a hybrid G30/G36 and the only reason they did it was to throw something together quick to have something to show at shot show.

Very disappointed in Glock right now. I love their compacts and full sized guns, but they are failing miserably when it comes to driving the market. They were behind the game on the Gen4 and they have still yet to put out what Conceal Carry people really want which is a single stack G26.

They had a real opportunity to be the talk of the show with everyone else already releasing small pocket guns, but for whatever reason Glock is like that old grandpa that refuses to adapt to the times and wants it his way or the highway.

BTW- All you peeps ready to run out and grab one of these hybrid G30 pistols get ready to buy a new holster for it too because it won't fit in a standard G30 holster. That means waiting for holsters to be made.

Yeah, that's the downside. I have some really nice leather for my G30, and I just ordered another.

I know I'll get a G30S, but not running out and doing it tomorrow.

Figures, usually when Glock announces something we already knew it. The only real surprise was the ID site, and the 30S was sort of a surprise.

Glock is the Toyota of the gun world, reliable but boring as hell. There's no passion by either beyond $$ and they don't care what the consumer wants.

Your all gonna feel silly when it's announced that you can exchange those first 550 points for a new Glock Carbine or Single stack 9mm.

Well, I had hoped for more of a splash, especially since the XDs9 was announced, the M&P Shield and PPS has been a hit. But having these guns in Gen 4 is nice too.

It's good to see these models officially announced in Gen4 versions; they've been floating about for a while, but I assume the official announcement will see wider availability. With this announcement, the only remaining models to get the Gen4 treatment are (and someone correct me if I'm wrong):

Standard Stuff:
GLOCK 30S
GLOCK 36
GLOCK 38
GLOCK 39

"Exotic" Stuff:
GLOCK 17L
GLOCK 18
GLOCK 24
GLOCK 25
GLOCK 28

I was really surprised that the GLOCK 30S didn't come out in Gen4; considering how the gun hasn't been the best kept secret, I assumed that GLOCK was waiting on making a Gen4 version of the GLOCK 30 and GLOCK 36 in order to release the model. Maybe a Gen4 model won't even see the light of day. I also wonder about the GLOCK 36; with the GLOCK 30S around, I could easily see the GLOCK 36 eventually becoming a "missing number" like the GLOCK 24. I am also surprised that the GLOCK 38 and 39 haven't seen Gen4 models considering that the .45 G.A.P. is GLOCK's cartridge.

As for the more exotic models, I'm not very surprised to see them without Gen4 models yet; perhaps none of them will ever get the treatment. I would really love to see the 24 get some Gen4 love to match the rest of my Gen4 .40 GLOCKs, though. The GLOCK 18 is a beast in its self; obviously the model eventually got the Gen3 treatment so maybe it's just a matter of getting enough orders or requests from different law enforcement and military customers. I could see the 25 an 28 getting Gen4 versions quietly at some point; if GLOCK ever discontinues the Gen3 line of pistols (don't throw fireballs, guys), these will surely get an upgrade to simply stay in production (I don't have the same confidence for the 17L and 24).
