The long run

downhill

As a kid, with all that youthfully wasted energy, did you like me, ever run full tilt downhill only to run out of steam and grace at about the same time.... And do that curving this isn't the direction I was heading but O well, here comes the ground, hope it's soft fall and laughing till it hurt.

No, but I rode my tricycle down the stairs when I was 5.
27 steps. Landed upside down. Not a scratch.
Mom not happy.

One of my High School friends owned a Model A. We took it to shoot a pistol that one of the other friends snuck out of his house.

We went to a country Corn field where we proceeded to shoot the "heck" out of the .38. The Farmer came barreling down the dirt road in his truck, unhappy that we were shooting on his land. (I guess)

The driver started the car and started moving before we could all get in, so I jumped on the passenger side running board and hung on, as we raced down the road, away from the farmer.

Ahead was a 'T' in the road and I hollered, "which way?". The answer was "right". So I leaned into the car and at the last second the driver shouted "No, left."

As the car whipped to the left the other guys said we were doing about 35 MPH in the curve. As the car went left, I went right. I was told that for a few steps they thought I was going to make it. Then nature struck and I went ass over teakettle in the gravel.

I had a deep cut in my elbow, but the farmer quit chasing us, and I got in the car. They thought I might be badly broken but I wasn't.

Point here is: I could run almost 35 MPH, almost.............
