There title went 3 words to long it should be:

"Should we try to prevent homicidal maniacs?

We should just prevent homicidal maniacs. We should pass a law against them. Being a homicidal maniac should be against the law. Yeah we should make murder against the law. That way no one will ever be killed.

You can only do so many things before it starts coming at the expense of the law-abiding.

We need to bring back the loony bins and lock those up that need to be locked up instead of dosing them up with drugs and calling it a dy.

Increased insight and a much higher level of functioning. Schizophrenia is a disease that causes severe social downward drifting as the disease progresses. Usually the increased risk is for suicide, but homicidal ideations do happen as well.

Thanks, PAGunner. It sounds like schizophrenia is analogous to spreading gangrene.

I always expected to have my gun rights to be trampled on by the Left. Now it's the "Fellons" (for lack of a better word) trying to change the laws. The Liberals are all just falling in behind like the sheep they are. How do we determine who is crazy? I think we should stop wiping away juvenile records when someone turns 18. That would be a good start. "Stupid is, what stupid does."

How old is your nephew?

Require references? This would work for the really crazy ones.

But in too many cases, unfortunately, the family is in total denial of any problems. And even friends/co-workers, etc... (after the facts) would say (truthfully) "wow, I never saw that coming."

Not saying references is a bad idea... It's an interesting idea.
