I finally gave in.

We have had dogs since 1966 but since my last two dogs died about 6 years back I have resisted getting another dog because I felt I really can't take care of them anymore by myself.
I have 10 cats but cats are easy to care for.

I miss my dogs and even though I was very tempted I have turned down a number of dogs and puppies I would have liked to have.

Last Saturday, while a couple lady friends were shooting at my place, one of the ladies showed me a picture of the last two puppies she had.
Immediately I said I really like that dog............but I just can't take care of him, especially with an impending shoulder operation next week.

Well, for two days I argued with myself but in the end I brought the little guy home.
The Okie Corral

Son of a gun, I forgot how much trouble a puppy can get into and how they have to pee every hour.
But he took to me right away and I really like the little bundle of energy.
Can't say the same for the cats though.

Right now he's under the desk chewing on the computer cables.
Oh me, what did I get myself into?

.

It is hard to resist a puppy.

Dogs are such good friends.

Crate training. The best thing to ever happen to raising a puppy.

It's right by the bed.

The lady friend loaned it to me for as long as I need it.

Bingo. M2 obviously gets it. I'm shocked how many people can't be convinced this will be the best $40 you will ever spend on your dog.

sign on name aside...we have 4 cats.

The cats "tolerate" the pugs....

Tolerate is a very liberal term here and basically means they haven't scratched their eyes out yet.

Congrats on the dog. We have had dogs going on 17+ years. Cats ARE easier but nothing can replace a good pooch.

10 cats....good god...you must buy litter by the pickup truck full

Name?

We just got a new puppy as well. Our yellow lab died about 2 months ago so it was time for a new dog. He is pretty mellow but still likes to get into things.

Christmas day, for some reason, my dog climbed up into my arms like a baby and stayed there for almost 4 hours. He slept with his head on my chest and sometimes raised up to lick me just once each time, before cuddling back into my arms. I have no idea why he did this, but he was one of my best Christmas presents.

I hope you have the good feelings for your new dogs as I have for my old (11 yo) one. It really tears me up to lose one, and yet I feel so lonely for their attention, I get another one. Some of us are not intended to go without man's best friend.

Congratulations and I hope both of you have the happiest of New Years.

Name?
I haven't given him a name yet.
My Wife used to name most all the pets. I guess I lack imagination.
After he peed down my leg the other morning when I picked him up, I thought I'd call him Pisser, but I guess not.

His Momma is a Boarder Collie but I don't think more than a couple pups looked like her.

The only black color the Pup has is around the edge of his ears and those markings on his eyes and face.

When I got home with the dog it was late. The puppy was scared and shaking.
I streached out in the dark living room with him on my chest.
After a while he stopped shaking and we started to become friends.

He's a cute little guy for sure and I'm jealous. When I finally get off the road and can stay home getting a dog is number one on my list. Cats can be nice, but nothing like having a little four legged buddy to hang our with...
