Remington 870 youth tactical?

How hard would it be to turn a youth model Remington 870 into a tactical shotgun? Would a magazine extension, side saddle, surefire light for end, and all that good stuff even fit this model? I think 20 GA is a good option for home defense use and the youth model is already pretty compact, with the reduced LOP stock and 2l" barrel. The modified Rem choke it comes with would also give the shot pattern a few more yards of effective range.

They already make a youth model 20 ga. with a 20" barrel, rifle sights, synthetic stock and full-length magazine. My wife has one for her home defense shotgun.

I'm sure you can hang various kinds of mall ninja accessories from it.

I'm currently shooting an 870 20 gauge that aippi made up for me.

From having a nearly identical 870P and having fired several hundred rounds through the 870/20, you can configure it in almost any manner you want.

The pic that aippi posted is one such version. I went with the short kiddie stock, a 2 shot extension from Wilson, XS sight, S&J Hardware extended safety and an 8 shot Mesa side saddle. An Elzetta clamp holds a light.

The gun is nimble and very quick to maneuver. The 870P requires thought and movement to swing around and it does rather easily although the 870/20 just seems to show up where my mind expects it to be.

My two beefs, and they have nothing to do with the gun at all, are:

1. A SF integrated forend light isn't available.

2. Mesa Tactical doesn't make a 20 gauge clamp. I've asked Mitch, offered my 870/20 as a testing and development platform however I suppose the market isn't there.

If you want to go mall ninja then a 20 gauge isn't for you but if you want a serious tool that is a capable extension of your mind, then a 20 will serve you very well.

Bet the inserts that came with Elzetta would work on Mesa if you trimmed them down.

I don't wann go mall ninja with it, I just want 2 or 3 round tube extension, a side saddle, and a way to get a light on it. I'm sold on lights on HD weapons. I have no problem with 12 gauge though and it would probably be easier to get a 12 gauge 870 HD model and get a surefire for end for it. Only problem with those is they cost as much as the weapon itself.

Mossberg makes such a weapon but i've never seen one from Remington like that in their catalog. I know they make a 20 gauge with an 18.5" barrel, synthetic stock, and 6 round extended mag tube. But it isn't a youth model and it does not have rifle sights.

Remington does not make such a model in 20ga. They do offer a 20" Rifle sight barrel in 20ga so someone must have added to her 20ga, however they make no 20 ga with a full length magazine tube so it must have an after market tube extension on it. There are options for an 870 20ga if one looks. My 12 to 20 ga stock adapter for the 870 greatly increases the rear stock options.

They do have a model 81100. Which appears to be similar to the 25077 model, but in 20 gauge.
