I picked up these 2 yesterday. I've been wanting a bare bones shotgun, and I love the mossbergs.

Nice. My FFL called yesterday and told me my 870 is in. Can't wait to pick it up. I've shot many shotguns, but have never owned one myself.

I'm with you. I have an older Mossberg 500 and its just solid.

I think that a 500 series or 870 is like a colt le6920, if you can avoid the temptation to dress it up, you can really hone your skills. mine may get an aimpoint micro one day, but no side saddle our anything else. the 5 in the gun and a slug in the speed feed stock should be plenty.

To each their own, it's your shotgun after all. Some of us just don't understand why you'd take a 500 with a tang safety and tacticool it out, making it arguably less efficient of a weapon, maybe even heavier, etc.

It doesn't matter how much black or brown you have on your gun; it matters how much gray matter you have between your ears.

But go ahead, throw all the things you want on your gun. Like I said, it's your gun.

I just don't understand why you(obviously since you commented on it) care what someone else does with their gun. I also don't understand how someone modifying their gun to suit their needs or tastes makes it "less efficient" unless you think everyone should be just like you.

Your comment about grey matter, while obviously an attempt at being snide, pretty much applies to everything, so what? You seem to be assuming that someone who decides to add a side saddle or extended safety or white light source or whatever are all only doing it to be "tacticool," whatever the hell that is, instead of trying to make a practical addition that may suit their needs.

I got an idea, how about we all just say nice shotgun, which it is BTW, and be done with.

It's like being around a bunch of hipsters in here some times.
