Sounds like the kind of guy who tosses a handful of ball bearings at a car for speeding.

I've run into a couple of these officious, pompous, overbearing little pricks (and wimmins, too, damn they get shrill)...usually in places like Seattle. I will admit that there is a lot of satisfaction when the real world wipes the floor with them. What's curious, though, is how utterly amazed they are when the victim of their actions doesn't automatically agree with them and immediately begin bowing and scraping to their clear authority and better wisdom.

Kind of like a lot of anti-gunners in my family. They are horrified, shocked, appalled, and ultimately furious that I don't just immediately change over to their side based solely on their superior education, morals, and debate skills. Yup, hyuck, hyuck, Uncle Jimbo, you sho' be yards smartah than lil ole meeeee....

It sounds like you met my ex-BIL. He fancied himself as one who should mind everyone else's business.

He used to work at a car wash where localities brought their patrol cars for washing. He would really eat that stuff up.

He believed he was destined to be the popo. Couldn't finish his GED, wouldn't cut the mustard in a LEO training programs and wouldn't be able to pass the police Psych test.

He put a $3,600 digital popo inspired light bar on his truck, he was butt-hurt he had to settle for yellow. He has a police scanner, model police car collection, 'friend' badges and courtesy cards.

I was with his one time when he tailed someone home, blocked their driveway and call police with a DWI report.

When he takes his medication he's an alright guy.....

Ohhh G&K Lady! Reminds me of some times when I was a bonded courier and drove about 100K miles a year.
One in particular stands out. Jeep owner who pulled directly into my path doing about eight miles an hour from a strip mall about 11PM one night and then slammed on his brakes in about two car lengths. I was doing about 35MPH coasting down to the 25 MPH speed limit town where cops ticket you for doing 26 MPH. I withheld my urge to toot the horn, when he pulled out, but that deliberate brake slam......
Well sir....Old Gray did a horn stand. Had a SILVER '92 Escort and the horn on that little bucket you could hear for fifteen blocks in busy traffic. He drove about 14 MPH all the way up through the town and pulled into a store parking lot. I gave him a good long one as I passed by and continued on my way never breaking 20 MPH due to the local speed trap.
Suddenly I saw flashing lights rushing up on me from behind on the deserted street. I pulled over and he came up to the window and asked if I had seen a WHITE Escort. "No officer," I replied truthfully, "I didn't see one." He raced back to his cruiser and drove off down the street lights flashing, enging roaring,all the way out of sight....
The old Pecker had called the cops on me from a pay phone in the parking lot. God knows what he told them, but he must have made up a SERIOUS whopper to get them after me like I was Clyde Barrow.

I have never been a mall security guard but I have owned businesses in various malls. (even in Austin where you are) I have spent a lot of time at the malls. As a Cop I also deal with them sometimes after the fact.

I have to ask, really, what are these mall cops doing to people? I have never seen a mall security guard bother anyone for any reason that was not justifiable. I dont know anyone who has and the stories you read about online are anecdotal at best and many of them are even understandable and fairly reasonable. Yes, I am sure there are exceptions but that doesnt mean that is the way it is.
