Odd

I was at Academy on Columbia today.

They had various 50rd boxes for as little as $12. The Remington 250rd bulk pack was $62.

They didnt have a lot in stock, but the shelves were much fuller than my local WalMart.

Let's see, product is not mandatory for sustaining life (Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs) so it can't be gouging.

In a free market when availability remains the same but demand increases exponentially, what do you suppose is the predictable outcome? Price goes up.

When there is increased availability, say after all this blows over, and severely decreased demand, what do you suppose is the predictable outcome?

Not sure this one will blow over like it did in 2008. We have a socialist that has nothing to lose and now has "flexibility."

I work part time at the gun counter at Academy. As of today no price increases have been received on any firearms, magazines or ammunition. They are the same as they have been for months.

Not at the one in Greenville, SC. Unless the guy stocking the shelves was wrong and this particular box/brand of ammo has always been $45.

I may go back tomorrow as it's on my way to work and take a pic for proof.

My Academy was well-stocked save for 5.56 (had some, but not a ton), and the prices were the same I've been seeing for a good while. All AR mags and a lot of other high-cap pistol mags were gone, as is the case everywhere so it seems.

Mass hysteria again in there, but I was able to take this pic....And there were 3-5 boxes of these yesterday, now gone.

Look, it's simple, really. If you see something like this, make a statement about it. Nothing rude or obnoxious. "Excuse me, sir? Don't you think that ammo is priced a little high? I'll go elsewhere to buy my ammo from now on. Thank you and have a great day!" Easy as that.

I was at a Academy in Brazoria County today. Ammo and guns were the same price as last week and the week before. Out of ARs, AR mags and .223 but other than that well stocked. Not seeing Academy doing anything different.

Glad to hear that my store is the only one gouging.

Did you see that your store was selling Remington 115 gr. JHP 50/c for $45?

Pretty sure thats the price on it 2 weeks ago, $45 is the price listed on the website, friend of mine works the counter there so I will check and see if he will do a price history check.

How much should it cost when folks are cleaning off the shelves?
