I dont doubt that (there are good fighters).
If it is not about who is toughest what is it about?
But really, why would someone make up that that they are a MMA fighter and you guys even challenge it if it wasnt about toughest?
As a profession, MMA fighters aren't impressive. Fighter pilot = cool and impressive. MMA = not cool, not impressive. Surgeon = impressive, not cool. MMA Fighter = still not cool, still not impressive. Plumber = not cool; not impressive.
So why not challenge the plumbers?
If MMA is cool and impressive name ONE value a MMA fighter adds to society and I may revisit my cool/impressive impression.

If you are buying the beer, please note I can drink quite a bit and like good beer. I normally need 3L of strong beer to start feeling it.

Well, if they were both married and lived through it.. then the betting would be even. Randy let me down when he lost. But I guess every dog has his day. Are the Lion's Den fellas still involved in the fighting? I truly haven't followed it in years.

All that really matters in this world is something called "survival". If a man can go out and make enough money to feed his family and have a little left after paying the mortgage. Fighter pilots are cool as hell but from what I understand they are all shorter than the movies show because the cockpits are very small.
I also heard that Tom Cruise was a jerk while on the carrier filming Top Gun but that was a great movie. But he has had some way cool roles and is filthy wealthy.
The plumber will make about 200k a year while overcharging people without mercy..but he will be rich.

If my travel is covered, I'll find a gym. Standard pro MMA rules, 4oz gloves and a cup.
Who's the opponent?

Envy. Because they don't know how it really is.
Even fighting pro, getting paid to fight, it's not a glamorous as people think it is. Even if you get with the UFC, only fighters on the main card make the big bucks. A lot of times I regret even doing it because of all the injuries I sustained.

Fighter pilots get along really well with surgeons. Similar need for fast decision matrices and confidence in one's decisions. I haven't known any professional fighters, but I bet there are some similarities, there.

Absolutely agree. Very disappointing. When I imagined Jack Reacher in my mind's eye, I imagined an uglier Dolph Lundgren. Not Tom Cruise. Ugh.

As Sharky7 said above, anyone feel free to search my previous posts.
But: Be sure to catch the good one where I trolled Cop Talk for 20 pages. It's been like a month now and they're still pretty riled up.

This. Steven Seagal: "the first foreigner to operate an aikido dojo in Japan". I'm sure they took it easy on him.

You "trolled" real good. Lying for all those pages...then posting fake pictures of "your" duty belt, claiming over and over it is yours when asked. Then another GTer finding out the pictures aren't yours and you stole them from another forum - then lied on here to say it was yours.
Awesome "troll" job.
This reminds of that new MTV show catfish.

Wait, don't leave out the part where it took the "investigators" in CT 2 days to find those pics, which were snagged off of Google in like 30 seconds. I never actually took any, I was on the couch watching a movie the entire time.
That thread started off annoying, but I ended up having a lot of fun with it. Good times.

BTW, other than a year of Aikido in college, a few weeks of boxing in the Navy, and a few scrappy fightish moments in grade and high school, I'm not a fighter.
I still contend that, in a no-rules fight, Seagal would just keep dodging and backing up until Couture commits, grab a hand, and do some monster joint lock that would probably break Randy's wrist. There's a reason those guys in the videos are jumping and doing those flips, and it is because they are relieving the instant and immense pain of those locks.
Now, if Randy shoots and gets Steven in the guard, I have no idea what Steven would or could do. I've never seen Aikido done from one's back.

I suspect you find surgeons somewhat intriguing because of similar intellectual levels. As you know, you cant be an idiot and get into flight school for fighters nor can your be an idiot and get into medical school. How many people at US AFA or Annapolis were at the bottom half of their high school class? You can be an idiot and be a professional fighter. Exhibit 1: Mike Tyson.

I think it will come down to who has perfected protecting their eyes from attack. If you cant see, you cant fight.

You do know the definition of "legend" dont you?
1. a popular story handed down from earlier times whose truth has not been ascertained
4. a person whose fame or notoriety makes him a source of exaggerated or romanticized tales or exploits
To be a "legend" the tales must be untruthful.

All of the MMA pics were real, matter of fact all of them I pulled off of here.
Oh, and I love the part where I waited the rest of that thread for the "photoshop experts" in Cop Talk to tell me if that weigh-in pic, taken with my own camera that day, was altered...no answer, ever...just silence.

That's right...people will be telling stories about Tyson for the next 100 years, like he was a fairy tale.

It would probably be similar to the part where I told you I thought you were lying and that duty belt wasn't yours. You replied over and over it was yours giving description about it - that is until you got caught. Then you said, just kidding I was "trolling."
