Dumb question, I know it's a big no no to shoot lead in stock Glock barrels, but would it be safe to shoot the Rainier plated? I have been having great luck shooting those in my 6 inch lone wolf barrel all the way up to 1500 FPS and would like to try some lighter loads in the stock barrel too

Sure, fine.

FWIW, I shoot lead out of all my stock Glock barrels. The leading levels I experience are almost identical to traditional rifled aftermarket versions. In my experience, leading is more a function of bullet fit and lube than rifling style. I do use GC when loading lead on hot 10mm loads.

WeeWilly, ok I got another question, every Glock I have purchased has always come with a nylon brush instead of a brass/bronze brush, and the nylon is ineffective at scrubbing leading and copper fouling out. My stock Glock barrels always have copper streaks in them no matter how much brushing with different solvents and the nylon brush. I always assumed the barrel steel Glock uses is too soft or fragile for brushing with a regular bronze brush, is this true?

That is true about the bore brushes. I have no idea why Glock sends that nylon thingy. It is not very effective. I use a brass brush.

Plated bullets are safe in a stock barrel too. Of course, when changing any part of the system, e.g. barrel, reduce and rework your loads.

I also use bronze brushes in my Glock bores, they are always like a mirror when I get done. For any leading left behind, I use copper choreboy wrapped around the brush, works like a charm.

Been shooting 200 grain Rainiers for years no problem with 13.0 grains AA#9. Never had a probem Accuracy is also good. For serious stuff I shoot 200 grain XTP. But the Rainiers have been good for practice.

+1 copper chore boy to remove leading

For a light and accurate load, I use any 155 plated bullet and 6.0 grs of 231 powder. 5.6 of TiteGroup or 6.1 of Universal are a close second.
