Hit a rough patch...
So guys... I was curious if you could help me with placing a value on my guns. I was recently forced to leave my job and move back to Iowa and was curious if anyone could tell me how much my guns were worth. (Ballpark)
I will try to add photos later.
First I have my Gen2 Glock 22. It looks nice, no major wear. But it's a Gen2 after all. Pretty sure none of the internals are original, (although I DO still have the original trigger and RSA). No box for it, one replacement mag and one original mag.
Then there's my EDC Gen3 Glock23 (with night sights and talon grip). It's obviously an EDC weapon in terms of wear. nothing major but it's noticeable. Original Everything.... the orange lock is still in it's baggy in the box =P
What can i realistically expect to get for either of these?
More than anything i don't want to get screwed. I love both of these guns with all my heart. The g22 was my dads and the g23 is my first gun. But i need the money.
Thanks guys.

LE trade ins on Gen2 22s are going for $329-349. If yours is in better shape than LE trade in then maybe upwards of $400 tops.
Gen3 23 you are maybe looking at $500 from a sucker but most guys would maybe go $450. A lot of it depends on your market too.
Check Armslist.com to see what Glocks are selling for in Iowa.

I would sell the third generation gun first and if I had to sell the second generation I would try hard to sell it someone I know who agreed to sell it back to me based on its provenance.

Yea I was thinking the same thing.
If guns are the most valuable things you own then your priorities need some retooling.

Sorry to hear this. On the bright side, I would think that older working Glocks would be at a premium since the company decided to "improve" the guns and ruined them (and won't do anything about it).

Cash value of perhaps $225-$250 each in a gun shop with private party value of $300-$350 each. Someone really wanting your 23 might go as high as $400.

Both will pull $400, the 2nd Gen may bring $450

Depends on what route. Gunbroker will bring in more but has fees and more of a hassle, arms list could take a bit but would sell quick cheaply and gun shop will give the least but fast cash and a free appraisal
Sorry to hear about your trouble

Really? That's a pretty sad response!
Maybe the gun is the most valuable thing he has to sell.
Maybe that's why the thread is titled, "Hit a rough patch"?
How about;
Sorry to hear about your troubles and hope that you have some family and support back in Iowa. Maybe it's not the place you want to be, but it sounds like it's the place you need to be for now. These are tought times for a lot of people right now and we all need to lean on each other for help and support. This country has been around for 226 years because we have helped each other out when times are tough and celebrated with each other when times are good. It's not always about what you have as much as it is who you have that will get us through it.
Good luck and we're all pulling for you.

No, that is not a sad response at all.
If you sold your car/house/computer/TV before selling your Glocks, then your priorities are ridiculously out of whack.
If I was facing eviction from not being able to pay my rent, you can bet your ass that my guns would be among the first things up for sale.
From your response I can assume that you are fortunate enough to have never been poor.

I would get rid of the TV before my last gun (not a huge TV fan) ((except for the Victorias Secret fashion Show))and possibly also the computer figuring that if I couldn't afford stuff internet would not be a priority and I would use a library for that aong with perhaps a flash drive for important digital stuff.
I hate to see the OP have to sell a gun his Dad gave him regardless of the circumstances.
Not knowing the circumstances I would not guess how he got there. For all I know, he lost the boat, jetski, motorcycle, camper, guitar, stereo etc. in a horrible gun accident at the lake.
