Anyone else looking at the Dell Latitude 10 tablet?
Have an Android tablet that is fun, but limited in what it can do. It seems to have the same software limitations that Ipad's have. Started longing for a tablet capable of running native Windows based software...and came across the Dell Latitude 10 with Windows 8 Pro.
Not talking about the Win RT, but the actual Intel based tablet. Looks like it will be able to run the full versions of Quicken, Office, Thunderbird and Firefox to name a few.
Anyone else find this to be remotely exciting?

First off let me say that I have a Google Nexus 7 and really like it.
Dell 10. $1002.00? You have got to be kidding me. OK they are offering it at $353.00 off but still.
Lets look at the spec;
Atom 1.5 gHz processor. Remember the netbooks? They ran like crap with much the same processor when running (if you call it that) Windows.
2 GB RAM. You aint going to run much with that. Not Windows software.
64 GB of storage. For Windows? Huge HDDs were invented because Windows and it's software are huge pigs.
Which graphics is used? They don't say and low end Intel graphics are kind of bad.
The screen resolution in a 10' display is less that my 7" Nexus 7.
I think Dell has a major flop on their hands.
Remember the Dell Insperion 10 netbook?

No. Just no. Like L3 said, price , performance . It's going to suck. Get a N10 if you want a 10" tab. But the N7 is really the shiznit right now.

We are probably going to get a couple of HP's Elite Tablets running Win8 sometimes after they come out. Android just has some limitations that rule it out for some business uses. Being able to run Windows programs will make them much more practical. They will be expensive, but I can think of a couple clients who will probably go for one. Im looking forward to seeing how Win8 tablets do.

It appears the Dell is intended for business use. It uses some rugged parts and has a docking station available. Additionally, it has an on site warranty. No need to send it in.
Lattitudes typically don't have the latest and greatest features, but are solid performers..

No. My 3 1/2 lb. notebook will run 8 hours and do everything I need a notebook to do.
I have an iPad for tablet stuff.

I spend too much time in my service truck to mess with laptop type devices in the cab, therefor a tablet is called for. Messed with an Ipad for a short while and found it would not do what I need it to do, so no option for me there. My Android tablet has the same limitations.
I guess I will find out if the Latitude is worth the cost, which is nowhere near $1000...preordered with Win 8 Pro.

Make sure you get the accidental damage warranty. Well worth it for students and pros who travel.

Roger that! With this being a "traveling" device, I figure it is possible to destroy and I figure it is worth the extra cost.

Also, if you purchased it from Dell as a small business, your tech support in here in the US. That's what I used to do.
