45ACP loads
I've been shooting Zero 230gr FMJ bullets over 8.0gr of AA#5 with an OAL of 1.250", but I find that it leaves a lot of black residue in my gun. My 9mm loads using AA#5 don't have the same problem. I'm guessing that since the 45ACP load is near the minimum, it's dirtier than normal.
I'm going to pick up a pound of AA#2 to load up some range ammo. I'm wanting the velocity to be similar to most factory range ammo. Between 810 and 850fps. Thinking 5.2gr should do the trick out of a 5" barrel.
Does anyone have any tested load data for AA#2?

Don't have any for AA2, but just in case you pick up other powders, 5.0gr WST and 6.0gr Unique get me around 830-850 fps from 5".

If you're open to suggestion, it's hard to beat 230 fmj with 6-6.2 grains of Unique at 1.260". To me, that's the standard ball ammo load.

Better still is WST for the 45acp. I've tried maybe 8 diff powders & WST is the way to go for std pressure loads, any bullet type or weight in 45acp IMO.

I have one load that I use for three different bullets in the .45 ACP.
6.0gr WSF
200gr LSWC 1.250" 870fps
230gr FMJ 1.250" 800fps
230gr cast TC 1.185" 850fps

I bought some WST to experiment with. I will see if Zombie wants to try it as well.

Basically the load I use - 6.2 grains WSF with a cast 230tc, but I load out to 1.215". Also 830 - 850fps.

I'm always willing to try, especially when it's your powder.

I'm also an AA fan. I load 230gr lead on top of 9.2gr AA#7. In a 21 shot string I get an average 846 fps. That's just a little below min. but its burning really clean. BTW this is in a 1911.

I too have had good luck with WSF with these loads; even better results with Universal at 6.3 gr. 230gr RN 1.250".
