Opinions wanted: LED Lenser P5R -- rechargeable flashlight.

Hi, folks.

I just saw an advertisement for an LED Lenser P5R flashlight and would like your opinions of it.

I am considering giving one for a Christmas present.

p.s.: As a reference, the person I am considering giving this to also has a Quark 123 mini that I gave them a year or two ago.
I also own 3 Quarks (123 Mini, X123x2, Preon 2) and 2 Surefires. I am not sure how the P5R fits into that group (other than being rechargeable).

Not knowing anything of flashlights, that said. If it has a great price and I like the kit box it comes with. To me that's a great gift. There's a Euro/American connection so it looks like a superior product.

From what little information I have managed to gather this morning, it seems that the light is actually manufactured in China (at least according to one website).

Amazon is selling the kit for $65.10 with free shipping.

I use to have a lenser flashlight yrs ago that I lost, a small 3 triple A batteries model ,never paid attention to lumen power on it, (about $40 at homedepot) I just knew it was pretty bright for a small flashlight, and it worked great for crawling in attics and under the house, from the crawl space entrance I could shoot the beam all the way from one end to the other in houses that were atleast 5,000sq ft. .It was just as good as my surefire 6p led but better battery life.

As mentioned, check candlepowerforums for more info on lenser lights. There's not a lot of love for them over there for various reasons. Their older lights were unregulated and didn't stay bright too long, but this one may be better. I recently bought a Nitecore brand light that has usb charging which i think is nice as I can use the same cord as my phone.

I may still wind up getting a couple of them for gifts as they won't be used or abused much......besides, I'm stumped for alternative gifts!!
