How good does it have to be?

Wilson makes good guns and if the barrel is the same as they use, it should be fine.

I have gone down the aftermarket barrel rabbit hole but, when reality sets in, every barrel I have ever had shot better than me.

Still, there are some good bullseye shooters around who might need a very accurate .45 so, if you want the very best in barrel and fitting, try Bar-Sto:

My most accurate .45 ACP has a Wilson barrel.
Discarding the barrel out of the Wilson package would be a waste.

It may be academic, the kits are all listed as out of stock - back order at Brownells and Internet Rumor has it that Wilson is 6000 guns behind on orders. Not likely to sell many unfinished parts that could go into $3000 guns.

Since they are on back order, and have been for as long as I can remember, I would get a Springfield Loaded for the same price.
Basically looks just like that frame and slide.
Mine is more accurate than I can shoot and it comes with all the parts you need to go out and shoot.
You can always add or change parts with the same money you would have had to spend to finish a "kit" gun.

I just had a Bar-Sto barrel put into my Springfield Mil-Spec 1911. It is amazingly accurate. I wonder if there is a reputable gunsmith that I could send a Bar-Sto barrel and slide to for fitting? ... Or, does somebody sell a slide and high quality barrel already fitted.

Good information. It changes my plan.

If using some other barrel is what's preferable, rather than discard the Wilson part, I would just buy the barrrel, frame, and slide separately. But, what I was really hoping to do is get a barrel which is fitted to the frame. That way, I won't need to have a long wait at a gunsmith.

I'm having fun doing that with my other 1911s.

I don't think Wilson is offering that package (or slides/frames) anymore.

I believe you, especially with the backorder situation being what it is.

It's funny that Brownell's web site is (therefore) so out of date.

Wilson also has the listing for Frames, slides and kits, but nothing in there, so it may be on hold for now, who knows
