Tripp Research mags good?
I ordered some Tripp Research 8-round 1911 mags for my new Desert Eagle 1911G based on their reputation here and other 1911 forums. It didn't register with me that they would be anything other than black even though their web site pic shows SS. (Duh!) Long story short, they arrived today and sure enough when fully inserted about 1/8" of bright stainless still shows in an otherwise mostly black gun. My question is: Are they good enough to keep and maybe I'll learn to love the blingy look, or should I give in to my impulse to return them? Are they really as good as I hear? Thanks

They are the best 1911 mags made. Coat them if you need black.

Some of the best. If the color bothers you get one of the bake on black finishes from brownells and spray them yourself

Thanks to all. Guess I'll keep them based on everyone's recommendation. They certainly do look like a quality product.

Tripp .45 acp mags are one of the best out there. if you are not happy with the finish, I would sell them and get most of your money back and order some black Wilson mags. I would not even bother ordering some black refinishing product like what others have mentioned and end up with a bobba job scratched up black magazine after a few loadings. I am not a big fan of a true 8 round magazine since they are too long for my taste. they are fine if your 1911 is equipped with a magwell.

I'm going to order me some in .38 Super to see how they are. If the SS sticking out that glaringly, then I figure a minute with some black Sharpie will solve that problem will quick and cheap like.

Why would you do that? They are just "copies" of Colt mags. Why don't you just get some Colt .38 super mags? Your the one who said, if it's not a Colt, it's a copy, right?

Tripps are the best magazines available. I've also got some CMC bodies that I've put Tripp's upgrade kits into. These work as well as the Tripps and are every bit as well made.
You've got the gold standard, it would be foolish to send them back in my opinion.
Besides, magazines end up on the ground. Stainless is an advantage in this regard.

Don't be silly. Colt doesn't make mags any more, but contracted them out like most everybody else.
You of all people should know that, however, if your education in M1911 is deficient, then now consider it fulfilled.
PS Consider that Colt and JMB came out with the M1911 and Colt used to make mags back in the days, so yes, you're right. if it's not a Colt, it's a copy.

Well, if Colt authorizes Checkmate to put the prancing pony on the mags, it must be Colt quality, right?
Im just messing with you, relax!

Sure. Check-Mate is top notch. After all, they make mil-spec magazines for M9 and FN SCAR-H.
