Noob from Florida
I have been a lurker for a while after trying out a Gen4 G19 rental a few months back. I had avoided it for a while since it didnt naturally feel good in my hand, but I actually liked it when I shot it!
Currently carrying a Walther PPS 9mm (new licensee, roughly 9 months now) but have been looking for something a bit bigger for carry when appropriate, with higher capacity.
After shooting the G19 rental, and then more recently borrowing a Gen 3 G19 during a 2 day "threat focused" training course, I really like the way the Glock shoots. However I have very short fingers, and did have some issues in stressful situations with the trigger reach. The gun would not fire since I only had the distal third of my index finger pad on the trigger, and was not adequately depressing the safety.
I shifted my grip and made it work, but now I am struggling with whether I should buy a G19 and modify the grip, or just get an XDm (which I have held and like, but not shot) or an M&P 9c that both fit me pretty well. I have also handled an H&K P30 and love the feel, but not sure about the size for carry, and the DA/SA trigger...
Thanks,
Steve

Welcome to the Forum.
You have lots of options. The Ruger SR-series or their P95, CZ or EAA, Sig, Taurus PT-111 (people knock them, but they're pretty good), Kahr, a 1911 in 9mm, etc. I'd suggest you go to the Ft. Lauderdale Gun Show this weekend and handle them all - and ask lots of questions.

Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried a Gen4 with no back strap? A tad smaller than Gen3s

Can't really speak to the options out there, but you have to like the way the weapon feels in your hand and you have to be comfortable shooting it. Otherwise you won't carry it and then you might as well not have it. Be sure to try out the various options before you buy. Good luck.
